Tariqah is Matter of the Heart

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa RaḥmatuLlāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu BiLlāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. BismiLlāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi RasūliLlāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al- Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

Tariqah exists based on Adab. And Islam exists based on Adab. There is no difference between Tariqah and Shari’ah. They are the same. Some people get scared when they hear about Tariqah. They think it is out of the religion, or as if they will have to carry too much burden. Tariqah is the matter of heart. It is a beautiful way for people to get closer to Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla, for them to have more love and ‘I’tiqad (belief) in our Holy Prophet ﷺ. This way doesn’t mislead people. If they hold onto it, they will be on the right way. And they will be away from the bad way.

People say, “What if we cannot do what we should do if we join Tariqah? Will it be a sin? We cannot do it. That’s why we cannot join it.” There is not such a thing. It is the matter of heart, as I said. A sin is to leave the Fard of Islam. There is punishment for that. Those who leave it will be forced to do it in Akhirah unless they do it in this world. But apart from that, Sunnah and Nafl are the matters of your heart. If you do them, you will be in profit.

There is Sunnah Muakkadah and Wajib. If you don’t do them, you will be ashamed in the presence of our Holy Prophet ﷺ. He ﷺ won’t look at you. “Who leaves my Sunnah is not from me,” says our Holy Prophet ﷺ. Not from him ﷺ means you won’t be together on his ﷺ way. There are Jama’at which see our Holy Prophet ﷺ as themselves. They know him ﷺ as a normal person, whereas Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla is showing mercy and beneficence to you for the honor of our Holy Prophet ﷺ.

Tariqah encourages you to do these beautiful things. If you cannot do them, at least, do Sunnah Muakkadah, Sunnah that we know. Apart from them, there is Nafl worship. You should do that if you can. If you cannot, you will miss your profit. Yet, you will still be accepted in the presence of our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. If you are on this way, if you are a member and follow this way, it is alright even if little. But if you say, “What is Tariqah? What is the Sunnah of our Holy Prophet ﷺ?” you will spend time in vain then. May Allah ﷻ protect us. May Allah ﷻ make us all steadfast on the right way insha’Allah.
