Mercy Oceans Dergah

The Dergah

A house of remembrance in the heart of Bradford, open by the permission of Maulana Shaykh Mehmet Adil.

A home for the Way

Mercy Oceans Dergah is a home of the Naqshbandi Haqqani Tariqah in Bradford. It is open by the permission of our Murshid, Maulana Shaykh Mehmet Adil, and in the care of his wakeel, Shaykh Awase.

A dergah is a place to come back to Allah. People gather here to remember Him, to learn the adab of the Way, to send salawat on the Prophet ﷺ and to serve one another. It is a house where nobody is a stranger for long.

Our name, Mercy Oceans, was given to us by Maulana Shaykh Nazim (q) himself. We carry it as a trust, and pray that something of that ocean of mercy reaches everyone who comes through our door.

Life at the Dergah

The rhythm of the dergah is built around four things our shaykhs have always held dear.

We gather every Thursday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 7:30pm. See the Events page for special gatherings.

Visiting the Dergah

  • Everyone is welcome, Muslim or not, whether you know the Way or are simply curious.
  • Come in a state of wudu if you can, and dress modestly.
  • Shoes are taken off at the door. Enter quietly and sit wherever there is space.
  • Please keep phones on silent, and ask before taking photos during a gathering.
  • Stay for tea afterwards. It is part of the gathering, not an afterthought.

Keep the lamps lit

The dergah is kept open entirely by the generosity of its community. If it has given something to you, help it give to others.
