Goodness in Getting Along with People

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa RaḥmatuLlāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu BiLlāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. BismiLlāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi RasūliLlāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al- Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

Our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam teaches us beautiful manners. Everything he ﷺ did is beautiful. He ﷺ says in Hadith Sharif, “I was sent to manage people.” What is management? It is to get along with people well. It is not to cause adversity to people but to show tolerance to things they are get used to and familiar with if there is no badness, and to be with them. But if they are not good, it is to warn them step by step and to manage them so that they get rid of that way.

There are some people who cause adversity in everything. That is not from the good characteristics. It is not from the characteristics of our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. If our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam didn’t like something, sometimes he ﷺ didn’t say anything. When he ﷺ was disturbed, he ﷺ kept quiet. When he ﷺ kept quiet, the Sahabah understood it was not something good. They would ask what had happened. And our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam would tell them.

Wherever you go for people to listen to you, as soon as you notice something, sometimes it is good to warn them, but sometimes it is the opposite. Certainly, you must warn. But there is its method and way. You don’t tell a blind person that his eyes don’t see. You must use nice words, or you don’t need to tell that anyway.

Getting along with good people is not a bad thing. Besides, it is the order of our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. It is his ﷺ Sunnah. It is a good thing. He ﷺ gave a chance even to his ﷺ enemies so that they got rid of their mistakes. He ﷺ was patient with their actions, and then they came to the right way. Otherwise, oftentimes some people of this time think they do goodness but make people run away. They cause hate in people. Therefore, it is not good.

The good thing is to earn them and make them people of service. May Allah ﷻ let us have that as well. May our character be good to manage people. Certainly, it is not easy to manage people. But there is a reward and Thawab for that. There is goodness in that. There is enormous goodness for people for sure. When you manage people and become the means for them to come to the right way, it is a big blessing. Allah ﷻ gave it as a big Thawab and great virtue. May Allah ﷻ give strength to all of us so that we can do it insha’Allah.
