Appreciate What Allāh ﷻ Gives
As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa Raḥmatullāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu Billāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi Rasūlillāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al-Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.
By the wisdom of Allāh ﷻ, the ego of mankind is ungrateful. They don't appreciate anything and think everything happens by itself. They are ungrateful. And they don't do any assessment. The nature of mankind is raw. If they train themselves and become good, and if Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla gives guidance to these people, there will be benefit to them both here and hereafter. The benefit will be to themselves.
Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is the one who gives everything. Who gives doesn't need anyone. Who gives is Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. He ﷻ has given it to you. ‘
( 56 ) ’, ‘Wa-ma
Khalaqtu l-Jinna wal Insa illa li-Ya’budun (56) Mā 'Urīdu Minhum Min Rizqin Wa Mā 'Urīdu 'An Yuţ`imūni’, ‘And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me (56) I do not want from them any provision, nor do I want them to feed Me.’ (Qur’ān 51:56-57). He ﷻ says, "I created humans and jinns in order to worship and earn thawāb. I ask neither for rizq, nor for food from them." Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is not in need. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is not in need of anything. His ﷻ attribute is not to need.
Therefore, these people must be grateful. In order for them to know the value of their ni‘mah, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla showed in Qur’ān and many places. There is a place called Saba’ in Yemen. Everything was abundant there; food, drinks, fruit and vegetables. But they went against Allāh ﷻ. They made kufr and became kāfirs. When that happened, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla raged at them. He ﷻ didn't like them. He ﷻ changed their beautiful life with fear, famine and misery; because they did not appreciate their ni‘mah. They didn't respect their ni‘mah. They thought it would be like that all the time. But when you don't appreciate the ni‘mah, that ni‘mah goes away, says our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wasallam in ḥadīth sharīf.
Our Holy Prophet ﷺ saw a bread crumb in the house of Sayyidatinā ‘Ā’ishah. Our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam took it from the floor, blowed the dust off, put in his ﷺ holy mouth and ate it. That is an instruction for us. Our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu alayhi wa sallam shows us what to do and how. And he ﷺ told us the wisdom. He ﷺ says "Be cautious. Know the value of the ni‘mah." Once the ni‘mah is gone, it is hard to find it. Ni‘mah comes very rarely then. Whether wealth or other things; once you lose it, it is hard to get it back. Therefore, when you appreciate ni‘mah, that ni‘mah stays with you. If you don't appreciate, you may run after it all your life.
There are thousands of rich people. All of them wasted their money thinking their richness will last. They didn't appreciate ni‘mah. They didn't show respect to it. They didn't treat it the way that suits it. So they lost it. You look at them and think they were once rich, now they are not. What are they doing? "I am dealing with some work. If it works out, I will earn a lot of money." My condolences. What are you earning now? Allāh ﷻ had opened it once, but you didn't appreciate it. If you miss it, it is hard to get it back.
Therefore, this is a big key to success. Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is explaining the secret to success in life to us. Pay attention to ni‘mah. Don't lose it. Our ancestors used to say not to wait for the well to close while it's open but to fill from it. Fill from that well. Don't just wait. Don't say you'll fill later. As you keep filling, it will keep coming. If you don't fill, it will go dry.
Therefore, appreciating the ni‘mah is important. We see the condition of this world. There was so much abundance and barakah. As no one had appreciated that, everyone is complaining now about their livelihood and other things. Why is that happening? It is because like our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam said, as we lost these things, as we lost the ni‘mah, these things are happening. May Allāh ﷻ make us from those who appreciate. Because who appreciates knows the value of the one who gives the ni‘mah. Ni‘mah is precious. Who created it is precious. He ﷻ is the most precious. Therefore, we must know the value. May Allāh ﷻ make all of us from those who appreciate in shā’a Llāh. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.
