A Believer Keeps Their Word
As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa Raḥmatullāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu Billāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi Rasūlillāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al-Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.
A‘ūdhu bi-Llāhi mina sh-shayṭāni r-rajīm. Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm: “ ”, "Mina l-mu’minīna rijālun ṣadaqū mā ‘āhadū Llāha ‘alayhi", “Among the believers are men true to what they pledged to Allah.” (Qur’an 33:23) Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘aẓīm.
Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla praises the believers who keep their word. Keeping the promise is the attribute of the believer. It is the attribute of a believer for a person to keep his word and to stand by his word whenever he says something to someone. It is the specialty of the believer. Our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu 'alayhi wasallam says, when he [believer] speaks, he speaks the truth; when he promises, he keeps his promise; and when you entrust him with something, he is faithful to the trust. This is the attribute of the believer.
Believers must be upon this attribute. All Muslims must be like that, but believers must be more. Who are the believers? Those who follow the way of our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu 'alayhi wa-sallam, those who strive to be closer to him ﷺ. The people of ṭarīqah should have this attribute more. They should not infringe this attribute in any way. These attributes are the believer’s special and most distinctive attributes. There is never someone who says “I am in ṭarīqah” and lies, or “I am in ṭarīqah” and does not keep his word, or “I am in ṭarīqah” and betrays the trust. He is not in ṭarīqah. He is a person with the attribute of the hypocrite of ṭarīqah. Because the attribute of the hypocrite is, as our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu 'alayhi wasallam says, when he speaks, he lies; when he promises, he does not keep his promise; and if you give him a trust, he will not return that trust. So there are two types: you are either a hypocrite or a believer. There are two types.
Therefore, keeping this promise is important in every respect. There are people who trust you and help you. You make those people fall into the state of liars too. You’re embarrassing them too. Because they treated you like a man and helped you, they strived to do you a favor. If you break your promise, lie and commit all kinds of treason, you are officially a hypocrite, not a believer. You have the attribute of a hypocrite. Then, may Allāh ﷻ protect you, you will become a complete hypocrite. Hypocrites are in the deepest place of hell. He says, “Fī Ad-Darki Al-'Asfali Mina An-Nār”, ‘Indeed, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire.’ (Qur’ān 04:145). Meaning in the deepest place of hell. There are ranks in hell. The lower you go, the deeper you go, the worse it gets.
Therefore, do not lie for the sake of this world, do not promise for the sake of this world, do not betray for the sake of this world; honor the trust. Especially you O people of ṭarīqah. Because people trust those who are in ṭarīqah more. If someone trusts you and says, “This man is a Muslim man, he is in ṭarīqah” and you cheat him, then you are cheating people by using the ṭarīqah, the Prophet ﷺ and Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla.
May Allāh ﷻ protect us from the evil of our ego. May Allāh ﷻ protect us from falling into such situations. There are many people who do this in this time thinking they are being vigilant. But they are not being vigilant, they are being stupid. They suffer harm more than benefiting. Because there is no barakah in what is earned from this world. In the hereafter, they will be responsible, they will be questioned, they will be punished. May Allāh ﷻ protect us.
Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.
