Sharī‘ah

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa Raḥmatullāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu Billāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi Rasūlillāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al-Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm: ‘ ’, ‘Inna d-Dīna inda

Allāhi l-Islām’, ‘Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam.’ (Qur’ān 03:19). The religion in the sight of Allāh ﷻ is the religion of Islām. All Prophets were sent to people upon this religion. This is what the base was in their times; to worship Allāh ﷻ, to be on the way of Allāh ﷻ, to order goodness and to prevent from evil.

This is the principle of the religion, the base of it. But there are specific details. Every Prophet has different sharī‘ah which is the law - Islamic law, or law made for people on how to live from the perspective of the religion and social order. That sharī‘ah means the law. It was different. Every place changed from ummah to ummah all the time until our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wasallam came. Our Holy Prophet ﷺ said in his ﷺ last khuṭbah, the farewell khuṭbah on ‘Arafāt, "Our religion is complete today." The religion of humanity is complete. There is no more change, because there is our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. There is no one after him ﷺ. People will go on upon this religion and sharī‘ah until Judgment day. Other religions and other sharī‘ahs had slight changes. Many of them.

We went to some place in our last trip to Europe. Hermits had their rooms there where it was forbidden to talk. They can come out to another room and talk for an hour. We went to another place. There was also a monastery for hermits. There was a community with children who were talking. A priest came at one point. He didn't say much. Then we understood they had two hours of silence as worship. Our people made some noise, of course. But the man was with adab. He said nothing.

Sometimes they have things like this in their sharī‘ah. Sayyidinā Zakarīyā ‘alayhi s-salām was (ordered) by Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla to give a sign to his people and say "I won't speak with the order of Allāh ﷻ. You keep on worshipping." But all of these were removed. They were removed which means this worship is not in Islām - no speaking and keeping silent as worship. You keep quiet in khalwah, and make your dhikr of Allāh ﷻ. You speak only when there is need and avoid worldly conversation. But such order is lifted for Muslims. There is not such order anymore. The order is to follow the way of our Holy Prophet ﷺ.

In the time of our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, three men came. One said, "I will never sleep. I will worship all the time and not sleep." Another one said, "I will always fast. I will not break my fast." The third said "I will not get married and make a family." When our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam heard this, he ﷺ called them and told them, "I sleep and I get up. I fast, and there are times when I don't fast. And I get married. Who follow my sunnah are from my people. Who don't comply with sunnah are not accepted.”

Our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam is showing this as a lesson to ummah that when people do some things as they like by thinking that is good, they don't do goodness. They satisfy their egos and think, "I did this. Even Prophet didn't do this." Astaghfiru Llāha l-‘Aẓīm. Therefore, instead of doing big thawāb, they commit a sin. May Allāh ﷻ protect us.

Our religion is easy. The religion is for all of humanity. Until Judgment day, we are upon this religion. And as a special detail, there is Ijtihad. There are madhhabs. People nowadays don't even accept ḥadīth. They say you must check Qur’ān. You must do how it is written in Qur’ān. You don't understand when you read a newspaper. How can you understand Qur’ān? That is another plot of shayṭān. May Allāh ﷻ protect us. Therefore, you must follow madhhab, ṭarīqah and do as much as you can. But sharī‘ah is sharī‘ah. We cannot deny it. If you can't do something, it’s a different matter. But may Allāh ﷻ protect us, if you deny sharī‘ah, you make a big mistake and sin then. May Allāh ﷻ not separate all of us from the right way in shā’a Llāh.
