Advise Yourself First
As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa RaḥmatuLlāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu BiLlāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. BismiLlāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi RasūliLlāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al- Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.
Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm:
‘Atamurūna l-nāsa bil-birri watansawna anfusakum wa-antum tatlūna l-kitāb afa-la taa’qiloon’, ‘Do you order righteousness of the people and forget yourselves while you recite the Book? Then will you not reason?’ (Qur’ān 02:44). Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘aẓīm.
Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla is saying, “When you order goodness you forget about yourself.” You think that you will give the orders, and others will carry them out. You think you should tell others to do goodness and do various things that Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla wants, but you won’t do them yourself. “Is that possible?” says Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla. It is not. When a person advises something or suggests an idea, just like he gives it to others, he must do it himself. Otherwise, if he doesn’t do it, others benefit but he doesn’t benefit from it. And as he didn’t do it despite knowing, he will be held responsible for it.
Many people think what they do is good; everything they do is good and there is nothing bad. Others must do goodness, do what they advise. And they think they are better than everyone. This is escalating and exalting their egos. Ego must do goodness and not see itself perfect. They must strive to do more goodness. They must strive to do better things. And the advice they give must be to their egos first. Before others, it must be to their own ego so that it accepts the truth and doesn’t do what is not right. It must not do what is not good. It must do what is good and not do what is bad. We must know this.
Many scholars of the end of times give advice to people, but they don’t do it themselves. Even if they are not scholars, they must know that the ego doesn’t let people do good things. Therefore, may we give advice to our egos before all insha’Allah. May we be from those who listen to advice, give advice and do it. May we not speak for nothing insha’Allah. May Allah ﷻ help us all.
Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.
