Speak with Wisdom

2 min read

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa Raḥmatullāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu Billāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi Rasūlillāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al-Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

There is a saying, “Li kulli maqāmīn maqāl.” There is a word and speach for every rank, for every assembly. The same thing cannot be told everywhere. In some places, you speak about knowledge. In some places, you speak in a language that the people there understand. You speak about agriculture or something else. It must be something that you give according to people.

Whatever people need or ask for, you speak about that. And with that means, it is important to turn people’s hearts towards Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. You may speak about anything, just don't let those people run away. People like good people. They like good speeches. They like what they love. And the love of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla can be put in it.

In some things, some people want to beat into people’s heads by force without any need for their talking and insist on encouraging them through their speech. Whereas as they talk, they can make them leave. Because when the speech is without wisdom, it has no benefit. When there is wisdom, people benefit from that wisdom. Otherwise, it is useless.

There’s no need to tell some things or everything. “This is right. I must say it.” It's not the time. It's not the place. If you say it, there may be more harm than benefit both to yourself and to others. Therefore, you must know well the people you talk to and where you talk. You must understand it so that you act accordingly. You can’t go straight ahead. Sometimes you must speak about this matter, sometimes about another matter. People will benefit from it. And you will have benefit. Otherwise, it is useless. Even if there is no harm, there is no benefit. It will be “Ma-la ya’ni.” It will be useless. “Ma-la ya’ni” means something useless. May Allāh ﷻ protect us.

The one who used to speak in the best way, who used to tell the most beautiful things we’ve ever heard so far, things people benefit from is Mawlānā Shaykh Nāẓim. Every word he said was a jewel. He spoke according to every person. And everyone understood as much as he could. But who listened to him benefited from it for sure. Therefore, we must follow his way and imitate him as much as we can in shā’a Llāh. May Allāh ﷻ help all of us in shā’a Llāh.

Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.
