Be Grateful, Don’t Complain

2 min read

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa Raḥmatullāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu Billāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi Rasūlillāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al-Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm:, “Wa-in ta‘uddū ni‘mata Llāhi lā tuḥṣūhā", “if you should count the favor of Allah, you could not enumerate them.” (Qur’an 14:34). Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘aẓīm. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says to people with these beautiful words that no matter how hard you try to count these blessings, you cannot count them.

They used to count with paper in old time. Nowadays, it is with a computer. Even that cannot count the blessings given by Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla to people and creatures. It cannot count them at all. And they cannot pay Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla back. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is not asking for anything anyway. He ﷻ gave these blessings so that they stay with you. Whoever rejects these blessings is in loss himself. He will have caused suffering to himself. If he doesn't accept the given goodness, there is either goodness, or badness for that. But bad things happen to him afterwards.

The blessings of Allāh ﷻ, even every breath is a great blessing. Every sip of water, every movement is a great blessing. People don't appreciate it at all. They are not grateful. They don't make shukr. Set aside making shukr, they are rebellious and disobedient. They are challenging Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla.

Mankind think something big of themselves. They give great value to themselves and show arrogance. Arrogance is the worst characteristic. There is nothing to be arrogant about. Being arrogant in front of Allāh ‘Azza waJalla is the worst thing to mankind. Because people are arrogant to people, and then they are arrogant to Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. They don't appreciate His ﷻ blessings. Who doesn't appreciate a blessing loses that blessing. May Allāh ﷻ protect all of us. May we be grateful for the blessings given by Allāh ﷻ. With shukr, the blessings He ﷻ gives increase. People nowadays are used to complaining. They are used to not seeing any goodness. They are used to not seeing the blessings. They only think about their profits. When we say it is a blessing, they say, "No. What is it? Is it something? It is nothing.” They insult the blessing, and then they expect more. If you don't appreciate what is given to you, you won't be given anything. May Allāh ﷻ protect us. They have taught the same thing both to believers and non-believers, to Muslims and kāfirs. They are not content with anything. They don't like anything.

We must like what Allāh ﷻ gives. No matter what, even if it's a little thing, we must be grateful, as that is a big blessing. We must say we make shukr to Allāh ﷻ. May Allāh ﷻ make us from the grateful ones and from those who know the value in shā’a Llāh.

Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.
