Come to Be Honoured
As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa Raḥmatullāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu Billāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi Rasūlillāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al-Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.
Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm:
(Qur’an 10:65) Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says, “Inna l-‘izzata liLlāhi jamī'an”, “Indeed, honor [due to power] belongs to Allah entirely.” Dignity and honor are for Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. Those who are with Allāh ﷻ attain those dignity and honor.
Every day in Fajr prayer in Dua al-Qunūt we say, “Innahu lā yadhillu man wālayt wa la ya'izzu man ‘ādayt.” Whoever is with You will not be disgraced. And whoever is Your enemy will not will be great. Being great is for believers, for people who are mu’min, for people who are on the way of Allāh ﷻ. Dignity and honor are for them.
Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm, “Wa-lā tahinū wa-lā taḥzanū wa-antumu l-a‘lawna in kuntum mu’minīn”, “So do not weaken and do not grieve, and you will be superior if you are [true] believers.”(Qur’an 03:139) Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says, “Do not be upset. Do not be sad. You are on the highest level. You are on the top.” Those who are enemies of Allāh ﷻ, people who don't accept the way of Allāh ﷻ are disgraced. Their worldly rank is nothing. They have no value.
To show respect to them attracts the anger of Allāh ﷻ. If you want to respect someone for his worldly rank, that is wrong. That doesn't suit you. It is not permissible for mu’mins. Whatever they have in dunyā, even if their worldly rank is high, to show respect to them, to honor them is not permissible for Muslims. You can treat them as normal people. But they cannot be given the same honor as Muslims have. Only to those who obey the order of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, those who accept Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla and His Prophets can that dignity and honor be given.
But even if the rest are the greatest in this world, as long as they are not on this way, as long as they are not on the way ordered by Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, there is no greatness for them. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla gave greatness only to our Holy Prophet ﷺ and then to other Prophets. They are the most exalted ones. Their dignity and honor are permament and forever. But people who strive for this world, there is no dignity and honor for them as long as they are not on the way of Allāh ﷻ. They are not meant to have it.
Those people are great in the eyes of people of dunyā, people who follow dunyā and follow their egos. Their ranks are high for them. But it is not so in the sight of Allāh ﷻ and in the sight of mu’mins. They have no greatness in the sight of our Holy Prophet ﷺ other Prophets. They make themselves busy for a couple of days and feel important. But then they will understand their uselessness.
Therefore, Muslims and mu’mins living in dunyā must not be cheated by the greatness of dunyā. That is not greatness. The further people go away from Allāh ﷻ, the lower they fall. They will become so worthless and honorless. Therefore, Allāh ﷻ is the Greatest. For Him ﷻ, this world is not how your ego exalts it.
We see some people have so much money, some people have so much wealth and so on. And there are people who are very famous in their countries and worldwide. Sometimes people envy them by thinking they are great. They are not great. People who don't know what will happen to them tomorrow or in a minute cannot be great. Those who are with Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla become great. You can admire them and respect them. There is no need to respect the rest. No need to respect those who are not on the way of Allāh ﷻ. You'll be mistaken if you respect them. You will commit a sin in some cases, in most cases. Because such people, such types have taken people's minds away. People they show respect to are not to be respected at all. They are famous. They may be. Do you have to respect them? It's fine if they are on the way of Allāh ﷻ. But people who do all kinds of shame and all kinds of evil cannot be respected. Their masks are taken off anyway.
But there’s no need to take their masks off now. Because this world has come to such state now - Back in old times, they used to feel ashamed of their
actions. But now they are doing their best to do more wrong and for people to see it. And people are showing respect even to them. Why? Because it is addressing their egos. The more it suits their egos, the more they love it. That love is wrong. It is bad love. You must love those whom Allāh ﷻ loves and whom our Holy Prophet ﷺ loves inshā’Allāh. May Allāh ﷻ give mind and understanding to people.
Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.
