Don’t Hold Things More than Two Hours

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa Raḥmatullāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu Billāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi Rasūlillāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al-Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

Mawlana Shaykh ‘AbduLlāh ad-Dāghistānī gave many ṣohbats to us. All of them are Māshā’Allāh beautiful. And they are not lost now, but he transferred them to our father Mawlana Shaykh Nāẓim. By the wisdom of Allāh ﷻ, so that they don't go into the hands of someone who doesn't know, he put them in the best place. By the wisdom of Allāh ‘Azza wa Jalla and the action of Awliyā, he transferred that knowledge to Mawlana Shaykh Nāẓim who explained them to people in the best way. He told people about these beautiful things for more than 40-50 years. He told this beautiful knowledge. He told from the knowledge of our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, from the knowledge that Allāh Azza wa-Jalla wishes it is good for people. He told about goodness and beauty. He didn't tell about badness. He didn't tell anyone to do bad things. He didn't tell anyone to eat ḥarām. He translated all goodness through that knowledge to people. And people, shukr to Allāh ﷻ are benefitting from it day by day and joining that way. They are entering the way loved by Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla.

Of course, we were present on ṣohbats. As our age was still small, we wouldn't remember many things. People forget when they are kids. One of them - There is a part of a ṣohbat that we remember very well. That is because Mawlānā repeated it several times.

Repeating is useful. Some people sometimes criticized Mawlānā by saying that he talked about the same thing and that they heard it before. But listening is necessary for people to commit it into their heads and to remember. If you say it just once, many people will forget. By the wisdom of Allāh ﷻ, the word "insan" comes from "nisyan" which means to forget. The actual meaning of "insan" is the one who forgets.

Therefore, as he repeated it several times, even though fifty years have passed, we still remember it a little. And that is, one day our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam told probably Sayyidinā ‘Alī for all the ṣaḥābah to gather there immediately. It was night time. He ﷺ said, “Let everyone come here now.” Of course, there were mushriks and war everywhere that time. There were people who wanted to end Islām. Sayyidinā ‘Alī called out, I suppose. When he called out, others called too. He called out for all the ṣaḥabah to come there immediately. The Ṣaḥābah came running in worries ready to protect our Holy Prophet ﷺ in case of anything, ready to protect Islām and the way of Allāh ﷻ. Because they

were called in a hurry by our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. When they all came, our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam told them, “The news came now from Jibrīl ‘alayhi s-salām. Do not talk about things that happened two hours ago, about worldly matters and disputes you had two hours

ago.”

He ﷺ said it as a big instruction to the ṣaḥābah. Because when you talk about what happened two hours ago and say this one said this and that, that is not backbiting but gossip then. It will make people busy with it, cause them to fall out and create fitnah. Because people remember up to two hours. Afterwards, they both forget and start adding up. One will add, another will make it two. It will be five by the third, adding ten, hundred and thousand on top. It will cause people to fall out then. It will mislead them from the way.

Therefore, it is important. We should not talk about worldly matters that happened two hours ago. It is the order of our Holy Prophet ﷺ not to talk. And we should obey this order as much as we can inshā’Allāh, because we are people. This is an advice. We must follow the advice as much as we can. It is better than not doing anything. Therefore, it is an important matter. Because some people get angry at things that happened yesterday and get upset for things that happened before that, or a week ago. Some people carry the events that took place years ago in their hearts. They tell other people, and then there is dispute and resentment between people.

Therefore, these issues are important. There is a wisdom of Allāh ﷻ that even when we were kids, this was told several times and we remember it shukr to Allāh ﷻ. It is an important issue. It is beneficial to do this for our brothers, for all

people regardless of being murīd, regardless of being Muslim. Wa min Allah atTawfiq. Al-Fatiha.
