Take a Lesson from History

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa Raḥmatullāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu Billāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi Rasūlillāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al-Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says, “Wa Kam 'Ahlaknā Qablahum MinQarnin Hum 'Ashaddu MinhumBaţshāan Fanaqqabū Fī Al-Bilādi Hal Min Maĥīşin”, “And how many a generation before them did We destroy who were greater than them in [striking] power and had explored throughout the lands. Is there any place of escape?” (Qur’ān 50:36). It is written in the Qur’ān, as Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla said. The interpretation of this āyah is that there are many nations that lived and experienced as these people. They were all stronger, more majestic, and had more wealth and property than those ones. They all passed and are gone. Most of them were destroyed. Those who were not destroyed are those who are on the way of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla.

So people walk around saying, “This dunyā mine.” Whereas, it is nothing. Wealth, dunyā, everything, ākhirah belong to Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. Everything has been done so that human beings can learn a lesson. Those who take a lesson will be saved. He who is on the way of Allāh ﷻ is saved. Others can think as much as they want that they are something in dunyā, “We are like this, we are like that. We are from here, we are from there. We are stronger, we are better.” They talk in vain. Because strength, wealth and property: eventually, everything has an end. That goes too.

That’s why, we must look at the things that will not go, at what is perpetual. Don’t look at the enjoyment and pleasure of dunyā, the life of dunyā. Live well in dunyā, but do not forget Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla has made in everything what’s ḥalāl for you. You can benefit from everything ḥalāl and beautiful. If you thank Allāh ﷻ, everything will be of benefit for you. If you don’t thank Him ﷻ, if you act strong here and there, if you write there, “This

place is a tavern” then, Allāh ﷻ won’t give you any benefit. You too will be destroyed and gone just like the other nations that were destroyed.

A person who defies Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is foolish. Defying is not a smart thing to do. You can defy your coequals, but it is not good at all to do this towards Allāh ﷻ. Your strength is not enough to face a man. How can you do such a thing towards Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, the Creator of the universe? How dare you! What a foolish person is he who goes against Him ﷻ, doing all kinds of disgrace. Also, he thinks he’s something. He wants to be praised.

Shukr to Allāh ﷻ, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla has given us everything. He ﷻ gave everything to Muslims. Shayṭān also wants to take them from Muslims. Unfortunately, most of them are cheated by shayṭān. They become disgraced in dunyā, and don’t have any benefit. If he has anything in his hand, he also loses it. He loses his body, he loses his health, he loses his honor and dignity; nothing remains. He becomes like a rag; even rags are better than him. He passes and goes away from dunyā.

Therefore, do not deviate from the way of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. Take a lesson. This world has been around for thousands of years. How many people like you, stronger than you, healthier than you, more beautiful than you, smarter than you that have come and gone. Nobody of them is left. For thousands of years, dunyā has been a graveyard for all of them. It will be a graveyard for us too. May the grave be blessed, in shā’a Llāh. May the ākhirah be ours.

Therefore, dunyā has no value. Dunyā is a graveyard; nothing else. May Allāh ﷻ protect us from evil, from the evil of shayṭān. Shayṭān is attacking people a lot these days. When they do evil, when they sin, they are proud of it. After doing things that mustn’t be done and the most shameful things, they walk around with the biggest pride and without any shame. May Allāh ﷻ protect us from their evil. May Allāh ﷻ give them mind and understanding too. If He ﷻ doesn’t give them, they already give their account in front of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla.
