Everything Intoxicating is Haram

3 min read

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa RaḥmatuLlāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu BiLlāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. BismiLlāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi RasūliLlāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al- Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

Our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam is saying something intoxicating a little or a lot is a sin. Therefore, alcohol - He ﷺ is not only saying alcohol, but things that intoxicate. There are many intoxicating things from weed and pills to needles. All of them are Haram. “We are not drinking alcohol. We are smoking weed. Weed is not a sin.” There is not such a thing. It is a sin. As it intoxicates you, it is a sin. Whatever it is; everything that intoxicates you is a sin.

What are the things that intoxicate? What takes your mind away, what makes people crazy. People want to be crazy for money. What shall we say? May Allah ﷻ not let us obey our egos. When the ego captures people, it makes them crazy. If you want to be crazy, go and stay in a madhouse. This is not a sane thing.

Shukr to Allah ﷻ, we didn’t have it much in Damascus. We had one afflicted neighbor. May Allah ﷻ rest his soul. He repented afterwards. He used to drink alcohol. When he drank, we’d be astonished. They’d say, “Hajjah Anne, he’s losing his mind!” She’d think, “Allah Allah! How is he losing his mind?” He’d become crazy. He was crazy for some time, and then he was ok. These people want craziness for money. People’s minds are incomplete anyway. And when they drink it, they go completely crazy. They don’t know what they are doing.

[Hadith]. Alcohol is the mother of all badness. Intoxication is the mother of badness. People do all kinds of badness, and then they say, “I didn’t do anything. I am not aware of it. I was drunk and not sane.” How come? Even in Europe, if unbelievers drive drunk, they lose their driving license. We are in a holy Muslim country here. Drunkards kill people and do I don’t know what. Probably, they don’t even get fined until they drive on the red light. What can you say? People need fines in order not to obey their egos. They certainly need punishment. May Allah ﷻ protect us from the evil of our egos and from obeying them.

It is so widespread everywhere. It is so widespread in the Islamic world. Why? Because there is no Iman. Especially those perverted groups, who see themselves as good Muslims and others as Kafirs, say it is Halal. Together they make others use it and then kill people. They do all kinds of badness. May Allah ﷻ protect us from the evil of shaytan and the evil of our egos. There is no trying or experiencing. Beware of it., ‘Wa Lā Taqrabū Al-Fawāhisha’, ‘And do not approach shameful deeds.’ (Qur’ān 06:151). Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla says, “Don’t come close to it.” Beware of approaching those things. May that dirt stay away from us. May Allah ﷻ protect us all.

Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.
