The Reality of Death

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa RaḥmatuLlāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu BiLlāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. BismiLlāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi RasūliLlāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al- Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla created us. We are not going to go anywhere. We came from Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla, and we will return to Him ﷻ. This is something that will happen to everyone. Shukr to Allah ﷻ, our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, all Prophets have told what will happen after this life. People who have Iman and Muslims prepare themselves accordingly. They act accordingly to be in comfort in Akhirah. People work in this world to be in comfort when they are old. It is the same. Who wants to be in comfort in Akhirah must do the things ordered by Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla. He must obey His ﷻ orders and stay away from the things He ﷻ prohibited.

What will happen to people when they close their eyes and give their last breath? For Muslims, Mawlana Shaykh Nazim used to also say this; it is like a door opens, and you pass through it to the other side. It will be comfortable and easy for Muslims. For nonMuslims, it will be very difficult. May Allah ﷻ protect us. It will be very difficult for those who go against Allah ﷻ. For Muslims, they will depart from here. They will be separated from their families. And the other Mu’mins will meet them on the other side. They always ask “Who is coming? This one is coming.” They meet him and get happy.

When people pass away, there is sadness here and happiness there. Just like you travel from some place, people get upset for their friend to leave, there is happiness on the other side for their friend to come. Mu’mins get happy for everyone, as they meet their parents, beloved ones, their Shaykh and relatives. It is like a holiday for them, so they get happy. Of course, there is sadness on this side. It is normal. When we come to this world, it is the same. There is both happiness and sadness. And it is the same while going.

There is no problem for Mu’mins. It is a problem for Kafirs, Mushriks, for people without religion and oppressors. It is a big problem to go to Akhirah for them. But there is no sadness for Mu’mins. On the contrary, there is happiness. As Mevlana Rumi said, the night of passing away to Akhirah is our wedding with eternity. Same for Mu’mins. Our ancestors, Awliya’ and ‘Alims show us the way for people to be ready and not upset. May Allah ﷻ give us true Iman. May Allah ﷻ protect us from the evil of our egos insha’Allah.
