Hadith Lesson: Most Virtuous Deeds Related to Prayer

9 min read

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa RaḥmatuLlāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu BiLlāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. BismiLlāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi RasūliLlāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al-Ḥaqqānī. Madad.

1Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “The person who attains the most Thawab in rank in terms of praying is the one who goes to a prayer from a far place on foot.” Prayer is virtuous. And praying in Jama’ah is virtuous. Yet, there are ranks. The one who earns the most Thawab is the one who comes to the mosque from the furthest place. He comes first in earning much Thawab. “Then comes the one who waits for the prayer behind the Imam.” Who comes early and waits to pray together with the Imam comes second. “The person who prays earns more Thawab than someone who sleeps.” Who waits and prays with the Imam, not at home, earns more Thawab than the person who prays and sleeps.

2Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “The person who comes to the Masjid from the furthest place is the one who earns the most Thawab.” The further away someone comes from, the more his Thawab and rewards are, says our Holy Prophet ﷺ. He has much more than others.

3Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “Give good tidings to those who walk to Masjid in darkness with absolute light on Judgment day.” Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is giving good tidings of light to those who go to Masjid for Maghrib, ‘Isha or Fajr prayer in the dark.

4Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “Three are guaranteed by Allāh ‘Azza waJalla: a person who leaves his house and goes to the Masjid of Allah Almighty.” The guarantee of a person who goes to pray in the Masjid and not at home is kept in the sight of Allah ﷻ. “The other one is who goes to war in the way of Allah ﷻ.” Those who go to Jihad for Allah ﷻ are under the guarantee of Allah ﷻ. “The third one is who goes to Hajj.” Who goes to Hajj is also under the guarantee of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla.

5Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “Performing ablution in hard times,” Performing proper ablution in the cold or when it is difficult is the first thing. Because sometimes people take ablution improperly when it is cold, or they don’t wash all parts. Taking ablution when it is difficult is the first thing. “Walking to the Masjid and waiting for the next prayer after finishing the prayer washes away and cleans out all sins.” As many sins and mistakes people have, Allah ﷻ forgives them and accepts the worship as clean without mistakes. Certainly,

mankind makes mistakes and sins no matter what they do. These things clean them and don’t leave anything. If there is only one of these, it also cleans out sins.

6Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “Shall I inform you about what will erase your sins and raise you in ranks thanks to Allah Almighty?” If there are sins and mistakes, it erases them and raises in rank. Our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says, “Should I inform you about them?” He ﷺ then goes on, “It is to take ablution despite all kinds of hardship.” It is to take ablution completely, not improperly. It is to take ablution well and completely despite difficulties. “To increase your steps while going to a prayer in Masjid.” If the Masjid is far, go on foot. For every step, more Thawab is written. “And to wait for the next prayer after you finish the first prayer.” It is to wait for the next prayer. “All of these are like keeping watch on the way of Allah ﷻ. It is like keeping watch. It is like keeping watch.” Ribat means keeping watch against the enemy. The biggest Thawab comes from that. Allah ﷻ makes people attain it.

7Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “There are three things that whoever does them will be under the shade of the Throne on the day when there is no shade except the shade of Allah ﷻ.” On Judgment day, there will be neither trees, nor shade, nor tents. There will be only the shade of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla’s Throne. And that will be granted to those who do these things. “They are: to take ablution in the best way despite hardships, to go to the Masjid in the dark,” to go to the Masjid for Maghrib, ‘Isha and Fajr prayers in the dark; “and the third is to feed the hungry.” That is to feed hungry ones.

8Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “The Kaffarah (atonement) for sins is to take ablution in the best way despite hardships.” To take ablution in cold and hot [weather]. Usually, people are mostly confused how to take ablution when it’s cold. Some of them have brought up a new trend. Shukr to Allah ﷻ, we don’t have it here. They don’t wash their feet but rub over their socks. It is permissible to rub over Khufs but not over socks. Therefore, taking proper ablution by removing the socks is difficult. Therefore, it is one of the Kaffarat for sins. “Going to the Masjid on foot.” There are close mosques. Mosques are close most of the time. And if they are far, that is even better for earning more Thawab. “Waiting for the other prayer after prayer.” Either in the mosque, or outside, Allah ﷻ will forgive our sins and mistakes based on our intention.

9Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “Going to the Masjid in the morning and evening is counted as Jihad on the way of Allah ﷻ.” We can’t make Jihad in this time. Not everyone can be considered as making Jihad. Going to the Masjid in the morning and evening is counted as Jihad.

10-Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “The virtue of the house close to the Masjid over the house far from it is as superior as the virtue of someone fighting on the way of Allah ﷻ over the one sitting at home.” Who lives close

to a mosque has more virtues. He is like a veteran who fought in the way of Allāh ﷻ. The other one is like that sitting at home. Therefore, it is good to be close to Masjids and mosques. Unfortunately, now we see that they make such huge places that you can only reach the mosque by car. That is not good. They are making new places. But unfortunately, most of them are like that. They don’t know its virtue. They think staying at home is virtuous and good for us. Whereas the closer it is to the mosque, the more virtuous it is.

11-Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “When someone among you goes to a prayer, Thawab is written for his every step, and a sin is erased.”

12-Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “Your going to the Masjid and returning home after prayer is equal in terms of Thawab.” You attain Thawab both while going and coming back. Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla is giving us various opportunities from His ﷻ generosity and kindness. But people don’t care.

13-Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “Nothing is more beloved to Allah ﷻ than two drops and two marks.” These are the most beloved things in the sight of Allah ﷻ. “One is the tear drop that falls from the fear of Allah ﷻ. And the

other one is the drop of blood shed on the way of Allah ﷻ.” These are the most beloved things for Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla. “The first mark is the mark of being wounded during the fight on the way of Allah ﷻ. The other one is the mark of Sajdah from the prayer made Fard by Allah ﷻ.” They are the most beloved things in the sight of Allah ﷻ as well.

May Allah ﷻ bless it.

Sadaqa RasuluLlah fi ma qal, aw kama qal. The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ says the truth in what he ﷺ said or as he ﷺ said.
