When You Die, You Will Awaken

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa Raḥmatullāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu Billāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi Rasūlillāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al-Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm:

“Wa Hum Fī Ghaflatin Mu`riđūn”, “While they are in heedlessness turning away.” (Qur’ān 21:01). Sadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says, people are in heedlessness. Because of heedlessness, they are turning away from goodness. They don’t want to get close to it. When in heedlessness, they think their lives will never end; nothing else. But when they reach ākhirah, they will be surprised, says Sayyidinā ‘Alī. Sayyidinā ‘Alī, karrama Llāhu wajhahu says, people are asleep. Life passes like a dream for people. When do they wake up? People wake up when they die. People wake up every day in the morning, but that’s different. The real sleep and heedlessness is in dunyā. People say "I’ll do this later” or “There is no such thing”, and go through their lives in heedlessness deceiving themselves.

Dunyā does not stop. If you want be heedless or alert. You earn in being away from heedlessness. If you are heedless, you will open your eyes and see that qiyāmah has occurred, or you will close your eyes and wonder what happened. These things have now come true. Everything became clear. People become regretful and remorseful because they don’t have anything to do now. But it’s of no benefit anymore. Those who had done say, “I wish I had done more.” Those who hadn’t done say, “I wish I had done.” Those who are non-believers say that what these people were saying is indeed true. But if they say let’s do something, they can’t. Because that opportunity is now over, it’s gone. Life has passed. Life doesn’t stop.

What’s beneficial in life, what’s valuable in a person’s life is the things he has done for ākhirah. And for the things he has not done, he must ask for forgiveness, mercy and beneficence from Allāh ﷻ. But people, especially the people of this time, never approach these things because of their arrogance. They have become more arrogant than shayṭān. At least, shayṭān acknowledges Allāh ﷻ. These people do not acknowledge Allāh ﷻ. They do not accept Him ﷻ either. As we said, they live as heedless and deceived. When they close their eyes, they will see everything clearly. By then, it will be too late. Nothing will be of benefit.

Therefore, may Allāh ﷻ protect us. May we not be heedless. The heedless person is at loss. They say that a Muslim must be alert. Our Turks say that a Muslim is alert, but in terms of which alertness - if he obeys Allāh ﷻ, then he is alert. Otherwise, alertness for the sake of dunyā will not be of much use. There are many foxes. There are many cunning ones. If you’re alert and you go to bed, they’ll strip you and leave nothing of you. That’s not important. What’s essentially important is that they don’t steal your ākhirah; for your ākhirah to be safe. When you close your eyes, to attain Allāh’s ﷻ mercy, Allāh’s ﷻ consent. May Allāh ﷻ not make us all among the heedless ones. May our hearts not be heedless of Allāh ﷻ and the Prophets of Allāh ﷻ, in shā’a Llāh.

Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.
