Qurbān Is a Mercy for You

4 min read

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa Raḥmatullāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu Billāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi Rasūlillāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al-Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

Al-ḥamdu liLlāhi ‘alá ni‘mih... wa shukru liLlāh. Praises and shukr to Allāh ﷻ we realized ’Īd today. It is the means for goodness in shā’a Llāh. May Allāh ﷻ accept our worship. Ḥajjīs became ḥajjī now. Who didn't become ḥajjī returned by doing their duty of ḥajj. Who couldn't return, who passed away have stayed there.

This is a nice thing. And qurbāns are made here. Some people did it in their places. Who couldn't make it sent to poor places. There are people who eat meat once a year or even once in several years. It goes to them. And it is very much accepted for them. Their du‘ā’ is accepted in the presence of Allāh ﷻ. In shā’a Llāh it will be the means for goodness. Our end will be good with their du‘ā’ and barakah. Certainly, qurbān...

Our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam used to select qurbān every year himself. Nice and big ones. Our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam used to slaughter them, eat and share. Also in our traditions; shukr to Allāh ﷻ, Muslims in many places follow it. In some places, they do it less according to their madhhab.

In some places, they do more. But shukr to Allāh ﷻ, people, Muslims can benefit from this thawāb and meat as well. The best is to both eat and distribute it. But this opportunity is more difficult now. People can't do it. Instead, they can send its price to poor countries, have it slaughtered there and get more du‘ā’ from them.

Some people show persistence and do exactly what is written in ḥadīth. They say this is so and follow that without understanding the meaning of ḥadīth. "Neither did ṣaḥābahs need it, nor did he ﷺ do something." Where will you find

how he ﷺ did it, how he ﷺ did what? How will you know? You won't know, of course. But people nowadays think they are clever and claim that ḥadīth says so. "You must slaughter and eat here." That is ok.

In the time of our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam poverty was at its peak. Therefore, that was appropriate. Afterwards, whatever is appropriate is ok. Important is to make qurbān which is wājib in our madhhab wherever you make it.

As long as you give your name and do it in your name, that wājib is done. With its first blood drop, you will be given good tidings of paradise. With every bristle, however many bristles there are on that animal, ten thawāb are written for each of it. That is alright. Otherwise, you get so much du‘ā’ from people who eat it.

Therefore, it is appropriate for those who want so. Who can slaughter themselves may do so. They can eat from qurbān meat and share with neighbors. But people are eating meat every day now. They say it is expensive. They complain by saying this and that, because they eat nothing but meat every day.

Therefore, it's better when people who can't afford meat eat it. Nevertheless, who wants to eat qurbān meat at home may eat it. Many people go to vacations on ’Īd anyway. They go here and there. They don't have the chance. Who have the chance should pass over to someone reliable and make sure qurbān is made.

That is necessary, because they give to some places, but it is unclear where it's gone. It is unclear if qurbān is made or not. They must look into it. They must give it to people they rely on, as it becomes the responsibility of people you rely on. You are not responsible anymore. They will be responsible. Allāh ﷻ gives you thawab and reward according to your intention. May Allāh ﷻ bless it.

Today is the last day of ’Īd. It has passed shukr to Allāh ﷻ. Our life is passing. We can't stop it anyway. But it is nice when it passes in worship. In shā’a Llāh this ’Īd has passed nicely with brothers who come and go. They come for ziyārah for the pleasure of Allāh ﷻ, to visit maqām of Mawlānā Shaykh Nāẓim. May Allāh ﷻ accept it from all of them and bless it. May their good du‘ā’ be accepted in shā’a Llāh. May Allāh ﷻ let us reach more years in shā’a Llāh.

Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.
