Better than What They Collect

Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi Rasūlillāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al-Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.
May this ‘Īd be blessed for all of us. May Allāh ﷻ accept our worship. May we all attain the pleasure of Allāh ﷻ in shā’a Llāh. ‘Īd Mubarak! May Allāh ﷻ protect the Islamic world. May they be on the right way in shā’a Llāh.
We read the ḥadīth sharīf of our Holy Prophet ﷺ. It is the most virtuous day of the year in the presence of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. “Yawmu n-naḥr wa yawmu l-qarr.” “Yawmu n-naḥr” means today, the day of qurbān. The 10th of Dhū l-Ḥijjah, the first day of ‘Īdu l-Aḍḥá is the best day in the presence of Allāh ﷻ. When it is the best day in the presence of Allāh ﷻ, it is the best day for our Holy Prophet ﷺ, Muslims and all mu’mins.
Certainly, there are good nights. But regarding the days, our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying that the 10th of Dhū l-Ḥijjah is the most virtuous day. Because many farḍ and wājib are done on this day. For them, it is the holiest day in terms of time and place. What does a holy day mean? It is the peace of the soul. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla gives peace to people's souls, and this peace goes till ākhirah and lasts forever.
There are people who think it is for this world. They are using everything. In order to make themselves happy, mankind does various things. They do things in order to be happy and think they'll be happy with it. That is instant happiness for a minute or an hour. It occurs as some peace or some joy. But it doesn't last. You cannot find that happiness after an hour or a day. If you look for it, you'll do the same things. And it will disappear in the same manner. It will not last. You may do everything that makes you happy in this world, or do things that satisfy your ego. After an hour or a day, after a month, you'll say, “I did so many things.” There is no benefit, and it doesn't last. It is done in that hour and remains there. That is something that has no benefit for the future. Things that don't bring and don't have the pleasure of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla bring hardship afterwards and become worse. Even if they try to do it again, it is something that won't last.
Therefore, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is saying,‘ ’, ‘Fa-bi-dhālika fa-l-yafraḥū huwa khayrun mimmā yajma‘ūn’, ‘Say, “In the bounty of Allah and in His mercy - in that let them rejoice”; that is better than what they accumulate.’ (Qur’ān 10:58). “Let them be happy with goodness they do.” If they do goodness and carry out the orders of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, the mercy of Allāh ﷻ will be upon them. And they should be happy for it. Its happiness is not temporary. That is eternal. When you die, it goes with you. It'll be with you on Judgment day. It'll be with you in paradise. That happiness will be with you forever. As we said, the happiness of this world; even Qārūn was so rich and wealthy, he had everything. But it didn't bring him any benefit. This is a big example.
A smaller example is that people nowadays say they want to live. "We want to live." What they mean by living is that they want to satisfy their egos. Not to pray, not to fast, not to do anything. When they don't do these things, they think they are living. They think they are living when they do all kinds of stupid things. But as we said, it has no benefit to them. That peace, joy and happiness disappear after an hour.
Therefore, people who want happiness, you get happy today, on such holy days. When you are happy, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla gives more happiness and joy. May Allāh ﷻ bless these days. May we distinguish the good and the bad in shā’a Llāh. What is good is permanent. What is not good is temporary and like a mirage. People who see a mirage in the desert get happy with their worldly life in a similar way. It has no benefit. And the end is disappointing.
May Allāh ﷻ bless these days. May Allāh ﷻ give peace to all of us. May we have barakah. May He ﷻ protect us from all kinds of badness in shā’a Llāh. May He ﷻ help Islām. There are Muslims in hardship. May Allāh ﷻ increase their ranks. We say that is their fate. Because they are patient people. Even in so much hardship they are praising Allāh ﷻ by saying it came from Him ﷻ. They are content. May Allāh ﷻ help them in shā’a Llāh.
Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.
