Don’t Give Us More than We Can Carry
As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa Raḥmatullāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu Billāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi Rasūlillāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al-Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.
Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla says, Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni rRaḥīm."Rabbanā wa lā tuḥammilnā mā lā ṭāqata lanā bih" (2:286). "Do not give us a burden that we cannot carry, that our capacity cannot bear." These two āyat from sūrah alBaqarah were gifted to our Holy Prophet ﷺ directly by Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla on Laylatu l-Mi‘rāj. Not through Jibrīl ‘alayhi s-salām or by revelation, but by Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. Who recites them every night will attain great favours. It is said in them, "Don't make us responsible for things we are not capable of." Not only do give us situations we cannot handle, but do not let us come close to them. That is a favour from Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla.
Certainly, people have troubles in this world. But the troubles each one has are different from each other. Different people go through different hardships. Even though in comfort, some people say they are in trouble. Why? Ḥāshā! Some people even say, "Why did Allāh ﷻ create me?" whereas they've got everything. Some people have various disasters coming to them like a rainfall. Yet, they are patient. They trust in Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. Their īmān in Allāh ﷻ is strong. And the rest must learn about īmān for sure.
Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla didn't create this life and you by asking from you. He ﷻ didn't ask "How do you want it? How shall I create you? Do you want to be created or not?" Some people have logic. But there are many people who don't have understanding and logic. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla created us, for once. How dare you ask why He ﷻ created you? If it is up to you, if you don't understand, you may ask as much as you want. There is no benefit in it. May Allāh ﷻ protect us, there is only harm. Allāh ﷻ created everyone. He ﷻ created to test. And He ﷻ created with His ﷻ wisdom.
For once, you have come here. It is a great favor for you. If you don't realize this favour, you deserve a great punishment. Therefore, go on. May Allāh ﷻ protect us, there are various afflictions that people have. There are diseases, the arrogance of children, diseases of the children and being different among children.
There are many afflictions in this world. Therefore, we must always make du‘ā’ that Allāh ﷻ doesn't give us a burden we cannot carry. We are weak servants. As we are weak servants, don't burden us. Treat us with generosity and mercy. Don't give us any tests at all. Grant us. We don't ask for tests. We ask for grants. You are generous; we are Your poor servants. Give us from Your generosity, O Allāh ﷻ.
And may He ﷻ give us the biggest thing, the strength of īmān. When He ﷻ gives the strength of īmān, people can carry it. Certainly, not everyone can carry... Therefore, we make du‘ā’ asking that He ﷻ grants us without giving any tests. May Allāh ﷻ give us from His ﷻ favours, not from His ﷻ tests in shā’a Llāh. May Allāh ﷻ help those who are tested. May their tests be lifted and be easy. May Allāh ﷻ give patience to them in shā’a Llāh.
Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.
