Love is the Foundation of the Way

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa Raḥmatullāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu Billāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi Rasūlillāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al-Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

This is the last Jum’ah of Dhul Qa’dah. Insha’Allah next Jum’ah it will be in Dhul Hijjah. May Allāh ﷻ give us from His ﷻ rewards, as He ﷻ gives the people in Hajj; we ask reward for us also insha’Allah. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says, ‘ ’, ‘Id’ūnī ‘Astajib lakum’, ‘Call upon Me; I will respond to you.’ (Qur’ān 40:60). Ask, and I will give you. So we ask from this. And AlhamduliLlah, He ﷻ gave us the idea on how to get more reward. Because Allāh ﷻ is Generous. He ﷻ wants to give; only you ask, He ﷻ said. But there are stingy people who do not accept this. Those who love the Prophet ﷺ, who are on the way of Sahabah, way of Awliyā’uLlah, way of Sufi Tariqa, they all accept and are happy with this. And they are happy to share with more people. They like to bring people to get from this nice, good thing. Because knowing this makes Allāh ﷻ happy, makes Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam happy.

And there is a Hadith of Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, to bring one to this way is better for you from this whole world. But who are not happy with this say, “No you mustn’t do this. If you do this you are..” They are even trying to kick out people who are in the way, to make them non-believers, to make them not good people. This is the difference between people who are following Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, loving Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, loving ṣaḥābah, loving Ahlu l-Bayt, and between those people who don't have love for anybody.

And the most important thing is love in Islām. Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says, you will not be a believer if you do not love me ﷺ more than your mother, father and even yourself. And you cannot be a Mu’min, believer, if you do not like to your brother, Muslim, as you like for yourself.

And here is the difference between the believer/Mu’min and Muslim. Everybody saying Kalimat Shahadah is Muslim. But not everybody is Mu’min. To be a Mu’min, to reach this level, the first thing is to love Prophet ﷺ more than yourself, and to love for your brother in Islām as you love for yourself.

So here, the first thing, the important point here: Love. Not hate. And of course, there are many kinds of Muslims. There is a kind that hate others more than shayṭān. These are extreme people from both sides. We are not accepting this. Because Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says, “kūnu ummatan wasatā” – to be in the middle, not to be extreme. So we are, even to these people, we do not say anything for them. They are free to do what they like, to be miserable, to be unhappy, to be full of hate. We are not saying anything for them.

Our way is not any secret. What you see and the unseen is also the same. Your heart is pure. This is what’s important. Not your face looking, smiling at others and your heart it is full of hate. This is what ṭarīqah is teaching: Adab, respect and love.

For this shayṭān is not happy with us. So every time he brings some different thing to make people run away from this. To run where? To run - there are only two directions. One run for Allāh ﷻ, and one run for shayṭān. And Allāh ﷻ is saying, ‘Fafirrū ilāLlāh’, ‘So flee to Allah.’ (Qur’ān 51:50). Run to Allāh ﷻ, He ﷻ said, Allāh ﷻ ordered. If you want to be happy, run to Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. If you like to be miserable, full of stress, full of hate, full of bad thoughts, bad character, run to shayṭān.

Al-ḥamdu liLlāh, Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam is clear; everything clear. Respect and love his ﷺ Ahlu l-Bayt and ṣaḥābah. He ﷺ doesn’t want anybody to say anything about them. With this, al-ḥamdu liLlāh, we get this blessing, Barakah, and happiness. We see maybe there are many poor people, many difficult situations, but because they are believers, they have happiness in their hearts. But who don’t have this, they will never be happy. May Allāh ﷻ make us all happy the whole time and forever, in shā’a Llāh.
