Intend to Build a Mosque

5 min read

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa Raḥmatullāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu Billāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi Rasūlillāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al-Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

Insha’Allah today we will make the Sohbah here in Turkish because there are many Turks, and the translation will be in German, in shā’a Llāh. Everyone can understand, in shā’a Llāh.

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm:

‘Innamā Ya`muru Masājida Allāhi Man 'Āmana Billāhi Wa Al-Yawmi Al- 'Ākhiri’, ‘The mosques of Allah are only to be maintained by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day.’ (Qur’ān 09:18). Sadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm. Allāh ‘Azza waJalla says, those who build mosques are those who believe in Allāh ﷻ and believe in the hereafter. We were destined to come to this beautiful mosque. Our brothers strived for the sake of Allāh ﷻ slowly slowly for many years and built this mosque, shukr to Allāh ﷻ.

After a person intends and makes an effort, Allāh ﷻ helps him. This is an example. As Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says for mankind, “I bring into existence from nothing.” Therefore, nothing should be underestimated. Don’t say, “I can’t do.” Intend, strive and Allāh ﷻ will certainly give you its reward. Even if you don’t do it, intention is important. You will be rewarded for the intention.

Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla never leaves anything without Thawab and reward. Our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says, “Whoever builds a mosque, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla builds a house for him in paradise.” Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is generous. La Tashbih! (no comparison). There can never be a comparison to the generosity of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. He ﷻ gives without asking for anything in return. A mosque is being built. A man helped. He placed a stone, iron or wood in the construction of the mosque. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla gives this man also a house in paradise. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla doesn’t look at the accounts: did he build this mosque or not? He laid a stone, placed a piece of wood, gave them a nail, gave this and that. In the sight of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, it is as if he built a mosque. It is in his account.

Therefore, shukr to Allāh ﷻ, Muslims received this reward without knowing how much it is. If a mosque is to be built, those who will help are many. Shukr to Allāh ﷻ, mosques are the houses of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. The gaze of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla will be more upon that area, that place. The gaze and grace of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla will be upon them.

These places done for benefiting people for the sake of Allah ﷻ are the centers that provide the greatest benefit to humanity. In the darkness of unbelief, they are the light. They are like oases in the middle of the desert. It was made by the grace of Allāh ﷻ to remove people’s troubles. These Masjids and mosques are accomplished with the guidance of Allāh ﷻ.

When our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam immigrated, they immediately built Masjid Quba. After that, they built Masjid an-Nabawi. The land of Masjid an-Nabawi was bought from those blessed orphans and they started the construction in its place. Our Holy Prophet ﷺ used to work with his ﷺ own hands to build that construction. Our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam would help everyone, from sand and stone to lumber. The Sahabah would say, “Ya RasulaLlah ﷺ!Don’t tire yourself, we will do it.” Our Holy Prophet ﷺ would say, “Let it be mine too. Let my effort pass by here.”

Light spread from Masjid an-Nabawi to the world. All of our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam’s Hadiths and Qur’an were read there. The Sahabah would tell each other the judgments. There were Sahabah living there in Masjid an-Nabawi. They were called Aṣhab al-Ṣuffah (Companions of the Ṣuffah). They would sit there in rows. There were hundreds of them. They would memorize every word of our Holy Prophet ﷺ, and keep it in their minds. With our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam’s gaze and grace upon them, the way of Islam, everything our Holy Prophet ﷺ said, all his ﷺ words and actions reached us, shukr to Allāh ﷻ.

Of course, there were also new Muslims apart from the Sahabah. They would come to the mosque. They would come to the Masjid. Of course, they had no idea about the Adab and etiquette. Our Holy Prophet ﷺ was tolerant with them, saying they will learn. He ﷺ wouldn’t get angry. They were taught little by

little. Even, there were sandy places. Of course, there was no marble or anything like that. It was all sand back then. Once a Bedouin - of course, because he comes from the desert and doesn’t understand anything, he urinated there. The Sahabah got angry and came up to take him out all together. Our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam said, “Stop, don’t do anything. When you tell what he has done, this man becomes a lesson to others.”

There are also Hadiths as: do not spit in the mosque. Of course here, there isn’t such a thing now. As it was soil, sometimes they would expectorate. He ﷺ said, “Cover it.” Our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam also said about cleaning the mosque. Cleaning by taking out garbage or dirt from the mosque is the dowry of Houris, says our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam.

Therefore, this mosque is a great benefit. It is a spring for Muslims. It is also a benefit for non-Muslims. Mercy descends without returning back. It descends upon everyone; those praying around, the Jama’ah (community). The place where that Jama’ah is, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla descends His ﷻ Mercy, Compassion and Barakah. Therefore, it becomes a benefit for everyone.

May Allāh ﷻ grant you to make much more of such things. Because intention is important. With the permission of Allāh ﷻ, the mosque is not just for prayer, it is needed for everything. Shukr to Allāh ﷻ, they are aware of this here. They use the mosque for all kinds of useful things. Every minute is considered as worship for those sitting in the mosque.

Shukr to Allāh ﷻ, our gathering is for the sake of Allāh ﷻ. We are all here together in the house of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. We met for the sake of Allāh ﷻ, Allāh ﷻ will give us our reward without account insha’Allah.

They are doing so [building mosques] everywhere. Those who want - people should intend a lot saying, “We intend to do that too insha’Allah.” May Allāh ﷻ make it blessed for you too inshā’aLlāh. May Allāh ﷻ be pleased with you. May it be full of goodness and Barakah inshā’aLlāh. May many Jama’at (congregation) fill it and overflow it in shā’a Llāh. Al-Fatiha. Masha’Allah, may Allāh ﷻ be pleased with you.

Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.
