Nation of Ibrāhīm (as)

3 min read

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa Raḥmatullāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu Billāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi Rasūlillāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al-Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

Shukr to Allāh ﷻ, we are the nation of Ibrāhīm, we are Ummati Muḥammad. There were many nations within the Ottomans because of this. There were 72 nations. As the Ottomans are Muslim, there is no nationalism. Islām doesn't want that, because Islām is the unity. It orders to be united and not to be separated.

Therefore, the Ottomans used to always say we are from the nation of Ibrāhīm ‘alayhi s-salām, we are all Ummati Muḥammad. We don't need anything apart from this. The religion of Ibrāhīm ‘alayhi s-salām is Ḥanīf (straight) religion. Fathers and grandfathers of our Holy Prophet ﷺ were from this religion. People in that area changed the religion afterwards. They started worshipping idols.

That is why when Sayyidinā Ibrāhīm ‘alayhi s-salām appointed Sayyidinā Ismā‘īl to Makkah, he made du‘ā’; "O Allāh ﷻ, may this area be a safe place, a safe city. Protect me and my children from worshipping the idols.", "Wa-jnubnī wa baniyya an naʿbuda laṣnām" (14:35). It is the same to all of Ummati Muḥammad. Up till our Holy Prophet ﷺ; it is wrong to worship idols since Ibrāhīm ‘alayhi s-salām till our Holy Prophet ﷺ, till qiyāmah, because idols bring no benefit.

There are apparent idols now and spiritual idols. Apparent ones are more important. Showing respect and superiority to them doesn't bring benefit to people. It brings them harm. Therefore, this matter of worshipping the idols goes until qiyāmah. We were in India years ago. We were passing by a street. People were sculpting the stones. Banging sounds were coming. "What is this?" They were making idols and statues to worship them. A

person just get astonished from that thing. It means that is something that goes until qiyāmah.

Therefore, may Allāh ﷻ protect us. It is also not good to put something figured at home. It takes away barakah. Angels don't enter that house. Where angels don't enter shayṭān and jinns come. Therefore, we must be careful. People complain a lot about it. May Allāh ﷻ protect us. Our Holy Prophet ﷺ says as we've read in khuṭbah, "Bugh-ghiḍat ilayya l-

aṣnām.I was made to hate idols," says our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam.

Even while going to Damascus, the monk Buhayra knew the signs of our Holy Prophet ﷺ when he ﷺ was there. He checked all of them. Qurayshī people had two biggest idols called al-Lāt and al-ʻUzzā. He swore by them. They used to swear by them. He ﷺ said, “They are the things I hate the most.” Buhayra realized then, may Allāh ﷻ be pleased with him that our Holy Prophet ﷺ was the promised Prophet. It was shown by that means. Because he ﷺ hated those idols and statues, he understood that sign then.

May Allāh ﷻ protect people. People do so knowingly and unknowingly. But many do so unknowingly because clever people don't plead to these things at all. It is alright for people without understanding. They put them here and there in their homes. Those are completely useless things. They are harmful things, not just useless. We must stay away from them. May Allāh ﷻ protect us

Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.
