Nothing but Benefit from Visiting Maqams
As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa RaḥmatuLlāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu BiLlāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. BismiLlāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi RasūliLlāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al- Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.
Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm:
(Qur’ān 20:99). ‘Kadhālika Naquşşu `Alayka Min 'Anbā'i Mā Qad Sabaqa’, ‘Thus, [O Muhammad], We relate to you from the news of what has preceded.’ Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.
Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla is saying to our Holy Prophet ﷺ in Qur’an ‘Azimu sh-Shan with revelation and inspiration, “We are telling you about past people and times. We are informing you about them.” As our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam was not virtually literate and hadn’t learnt from somewhere, he ﷺ was taught directly by Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla. He ﷺ was informed about those who had come and left and about Prophets. Our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam was taught about all of them by Allah ‘Azza waJalla. That knowledge was put into his ﷺ heart. And he ﷺ told about the lives of past people as an example for us.
Many righteous people had lived. Many Mu’mins and Muslims have come and left this world after our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam as well. We know little about their deeds. Not somewhat but very little has reached us about them. Nevertheless, even if little, that is a very big example for us. Their Barakah, the favors of Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla to them; even if little, they gave us very good things for education and learning. Therefore, visiting them and remembering them brings benefit to us. As we remember them, mercy comes upon us., “When you mention the righteous ones, mercy descends.” When you remember the righteous ones, mercy comes down to the assembly. When you remember good people, their Barakah and mercy of Allah ﷻ descends upon us.
We have beautiful traditions here in Ramadan Sharif and the three holy months. They visit tombs, they visit Awliya’, they visit Sultans. All of them bring mercy. Visiting them is the means for goodness. Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla gives us from the mercy coming to them as well, because mercy is never cut upon their Maqams and graves. Therefore, people benefit when they go there.
There are some short-minded people now who live by as Muslim. They say you make Shirk when you visit a tomb. Why are we making Shirk? We are remembering Allah ﷻ there. We are remembering Akhirah. We are remembering death. We are remembering the deeds of these beautiful people. Nothing else. We don’t worship them when we go there. There is nothing else we do. Qur’an is recited when people go there. Fatiha is recited. They are the means for goodness. Their lives are a good example. Light descends upon their tombs until Qiyamah as we said. We will all have our share from that light insha’Allah. May Allah ﷻ exalt the ranks of all of them insha’Allah.
Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.
