All Worship to Perform in Rajab
As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa Raḥmatullāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu Billāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi Rasūlillāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al-Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.
We usually [directly] make Dhikr on Thursday. But since we rarely come to Egypt, we will make a Sohbah of two words [before Dhikr] to be of utmost benefit insha’Allah.
AlhamduliLlah we arrived insha’Allah in the month of Rajab: tomorrow or the day after tomorrow in your country. In some countries it is Saturday, the day after tomorrow. For us it is tomorrow, in Turkey and some places of the world. This is a blessed day, a blessed night of the year. There are some blessed nights. Tonight is Laylatul Ragha’ib. On Laylatul Ragha’ib, Dua is answered in this night.
This is a blessed night that Awliya, the righteous ones and the scholars revive. On the revival of the night – The Messenger of Allah, salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wasallam, said to perform ablution, pray two Raka’at before sleep and wake up for Tahajjud. This will be written as Qiyamu l-Layl. No need to wake up the whole night and not sleep. There is to make ablution and sleep, then get up for prayer and Tahajjud.
Qiyamu l-Layl is considered a blessing also. Everything for the sake of Allāh ﷻ is considered with Allāh ﷻ a worship. You eat, drink, sleep, work, get married, and your intention is for Allāh ﷻ, it is all worship for Allāh ﷻ insha’Allah. This is from the grace of Allāh ﷻ on people, on all people for them to enter the religion of Allāh ﷻ, the religion of Islam. Most people don’t take heed. This is destined. Whom is destined this from Allāh ﷻ, this is from the grace of Allāh ﷻ. From His ﷻ grace and mercy on us.
AlhamduliLlah we are gathered now. The day after tomorrow, of course, is the month of Rajab, the month of Allāh ﷻ. In the month of Allāh ﷻ, worship abounds, [one of which is] fasting. Some people fast for three months: Rajab, Sha’ban and Ramadan. Some people fast on the blessed days. Some people fast on
Monday and Thursday. Each according to his ability. A person must keep on these duties. These duties are of benefit to people. Whoever performs these duties, it will be of benefit to him in this world and in the hereafter, of course.
After that, prayer. Prayer is important. Some people say: “We make Dhikr of Allāh ﷻ, we make Tasbih. We don’t pray.” Prayer is Imadu d-Din, the pillar of religion. The head (basis) of everything is prayer. Without prayer there is no benefit. If one makes Tasbih all his life without praying, he does not get an atom of benefit. Prayer is important. If he misses a prayer and it becomes Qada’ (for make up), he can make it up. In the hereafter, he is not punished for it. But in this world, he cannot get its reward. If he prays his whole life, he does not get the reward of one prayer. In prayer, if the lastest time [of a prayer] approaches, the prayer is less [in value and everything]. Quoting our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, prayer in its earliest time is a jewel, [while] in its latest time it is a normal thing. He ﷺ says, prayer in its earliest time is like fresh food, while in its latest time it is stale food.
That’s important. A lot of people don’t care about these things. Even from the people of Tariqah, they don’t care. After that, there are some people who say: “This Sheikh says that if a person has Qada’ prayers, he should pray them. For fifteen or twenty years, we did not pray. How do we pray them? We can’t pray them.” You can. Just make a schedule for fifteen years: with every prayer, a Qada’ prayer. There is no hurry. If Allāh ﷻ takes you in death, and you are intending to pray them, Allāh ﷻ will forgive you.
Some people understand some things wrongly. They say this Sheikh told us that whoever prays two Raka’at in Ramadan or other or on Laylatu l-Qadr – we heard that twice or thrice – this is a Qada’ (make up) of all prayers. That’s not true. Of course, Allāh ﷻ forgives us, Allāh ﷻ knows best. But in reality, there is no such thing. Of course, Allāh ﷻ forgives us; there is no suspicion. But for two Raka’at to be instead of all prayers, no, we can’t say that’s true. We have not heard of this, neither from our Sheikh Sheikh Nazim Al-Haqqani nor from Sheikh AbduLlah AlFa’iz Ad-Daghestani. They are oceans in knowledge, in Shari’ah, in Fiqh, in science. And never once did we hear of this. If the Murid, who says I belong [to this Tariqah], wants to ask for a duty: the first duty is to maintain his prayers insha’Allah.
Insha’Allah tomorrow in your country is not the [first day of] the month of Rajab. After tomorrow begins the month of Rajab. From the first of Rajab insha’Allah, who does not pray should intend to pray insha’Allah. Whoever has a Qada’, let him perform the Qada’ prayers. With every prayer, a Qada’ prayer; that is simple. Four Raka’at, two Raka’at, three Raka’at after prayer. That is beneficial. May Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla forgive us insha’Allah, and reward us with what He ﷻ promised those who pray the prayer at its time with. The Mercy of Allāh ﷻ is all-encompassing. May Allāh ﷻ accept from us and from you. May Allāh ﷻ grant us success to every goodness. And may He ﷻ keep us steadfast on the straight way, on the way of the Messenger of Allah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, the way of the righteous Awliyā and Mashayikh.
With the inviolability of Al-Fatiha.
