The Waqf Property

Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuh, Auzu Billahi Minashaytanir Rajeem. Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem, Wassalatu Wassalamu ala Rasulina Muhammadin Sayyidul Awwalin wal Akhirin, Madad Ya Rasulallah, Madad Ya Sadat As’habi RasuLillah, Madad Ya Mashayikhina, Dastur Mawlana Sheikh Abdullah Faiz Daghestani, Sheikh Nazim al-Haqqani. Madad. Tariqatunas sohba, wal khayru fil jamiyya.

Allah ﷻ created mankind to be greedy. A person needs to train his bad habits and turn them into good and right ones. These are the things that one has to learn from his childhood, family and school. People of old times took care of these things more. People of today care about what they earn without caring much about Halal and Haram. If you eat Haram, it is not good for you but harmful. People think that it’s a gain. They think that they will get a profit, but that’s a loss. In particular, these Waqf (endowment) properties. They did not pay attention to the endowment properties after the Ottomans, they squandered and sold them. However, they are Waqf. There are some Waqf that you can sell and buy something else instead. But some of them, you should not sell until Qiyamāh; they should stay as they are.

People tend to them because there is no one asking [about them], they follow their ego and take those properties. It is not good to take them. It is rented to you, it is given to you to benefit, but you have to pay for it anyway. Thank Allah ﷻ there is a Waqf administration. There’s a wage they pay or a rent, according to them, they could accept or bargain. That’s not important, but he has to give his due. What is out of the deal is not gain, but loss. He takes away its blessings. And besides its blessing, trouble and affliction will descend upon him.

Now people don’t think about that at all. Then, something happens and they can’t get rid of it. Allah ﷻ forbid, these are very dangerous things. Bad luck will befall you and you can’t escape it. That’s why we need to be very careful about these issues. We have to give the rights of others. As long as you give it, Allah ﷻ gives you your right; you have to believe this. If you say, “These are Waqf, nobody asks” and you take them, you will regret it later. But this regret is of no use either. May Allah ﷻ give intellect to these people. They suffer the damage themselves. What they take as a benefit and gain is both harm and fire to them. They will pay for it in hell. Therefore, may Allah ﷻ protect us. May we not put a speck of it in our mouths insha’Allah.
