You’re Not Here Forever

2 min read

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa RaḥmatuLlāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu BiLlāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. BismiLlāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi RasūliLlāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al- Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam’s words are like jewels; very beautiful. What he ﷺ says is light for us, for our way, for our hearts, for everything. Allāh ﷻ rewards you when you hear it also.

One of his ﷺ sayings,

“Kun fi d-dunyā ka’annaka gharībub aw ‘ābiru sabīl”, “Be in this world as though you were a stranger or a wayfarer (traveler).” Be in this world as a traveler going from place to place. What does this mean? Don’t think you’ll be here forever. Here is as if you’re going very fast through a place to another place.

So don’t put your effort into making something thinking you’ll stay here. Your only effort must be to take with you as much as you can in this way for the next life. Do goodness, obey Allāh ﷻ, love Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, love Ahlu l-Bayt, love the ṣaḥābah, mashāyikh, mu’minīn and mu’mināt. This is what you must look for. As much as you can do, that’s what you’ll take with you. Of course, you can also work for a living, but what’s important is for ākhirah. Don’t think you’re here forever and that you won’t die. Everybody is coming, one step after another, going to reach his place. Nobody stays here.

For this, Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam shows in this small ḥadīth the way of believers to make them wake up. Because they are like sleeping. Sayyidinā Ali karrama Allāhu ﷻ waj’hah says, “People are asleep. When they die, they wake up.” But that time it’s too late. In shā’a Llāh, may Allāh ﷻ keep us and open our hearts for this ḥadīth. May Allāh ﷻ reward us, in shā’a Llāh, in this blessed day of Jum’ah. Mubarak, in shā’a Llāh.

Wa min Allāhi t-Tawfīq. Al-Fātiḥa.
