The Spiritual Sultāns

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa RaḥmatuLlāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu BiLlāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. BismiLlāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi RasūliLlāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al- Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm.

‘Alā inna awliyā’a Llāhi lā khawfun a’layhim wa-lā hum yaḥzanūn’, ‘Verily on the friends of Allah there is no fear, nor shall they grieve.’” (Qur’ān 10:62). Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.

Shukr to Allāh ﷻ, yesterday we paid visits to the blessed ones—we made our visits in Istanbul. We hadn’t done so for a long time. We were granted to make these visits so that we might gain spiritual strength and benefit from their spirituality, especially as a journey lies ahead of us. Foremost among these blessed ones is Abu Ayyub al-Ansari—called by the Turks as “Eyüp Sultān”—the spiritual Sultān of Istanbul. They are Sultāns; they are Spiritual Sultāns and Sultāns of the Hereafter. Hala Sultān, Eyüp Sultān—the places where these Companions rest - because they are Sultāns of the Hereafter, their benefits and blessings are everlasting. Whoever goes to them does not return empty-handed; they unfailingly partake in their spiritual grace. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla showers His ﷻ mercy upon them—upon the maqāms and places where they reside—both in this world and the Hereafter. They are the title deeds of Islām upon this earth. Wherever they may be—and Istanbul, in particular, is the final seat of the Caliphate—they hold this significance. When Mahdi ‘alayhi s-salām arrives, he will assume the Caliphate from here. The Islamic world cannot be without a Caliph. Therefore, when he comes, he will find the sacred trusts in Istanbul—the Holy Relics—right here; he will take them up and spread Islām across the entire world.

That is why the places where these blessed ones rest are filled with barakah and tranquility. They possess a spiritual attraction; they draw people to themselves, wherever those people may be. Whether one prays or not, whether one is unveiled or veiled— everyone is inevitably drawn there by that Jazbah (spiritual pull), and through them, they beseech Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. Some people say, “Du’ā’ requires no intermediary.” We visit them not merely to have them as intermediaries, but so that we may benefit from their assistance; for our du’ā’s are insignificant compared to theirs. It is they who are held in

high esteem in the presence of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. We make du’ā’ so that our du’ā’ may be joined with theirs and thus be accepted. Some people say, “No, do not go to graves or visit shrines,” and so forth; there is no need to listen to them. For the belief in the Hereafter is a fundamental tenet of the Islamic faith. These individuals are the Awliyā’ of Allāh ﷻ. In accordance with the belief that “Prophets and martyrs do not die,” they too are Hayy (alive). Their spiritual power is immense; indeed, upon their passing, their power increases even beyond what it was when they were alive. This is because people come to them with needs, and they must certainly benefit from them. Thus, their spiritual strength is greater, and the benefit they provide is more profound.

May their Himmah (spiritual aid) and barakah be upon us. May they protect us. The enemies of Islām are numerous. These saints shatter the power of those enemies, rendering them incapable of action. For the devils have multiplied; they strive to lead the Ummah of Muhammad astray. By Allāh’s ﷻ permission, these blessed souls stand as fortresses of Islām. In shā’a Llāh, those enemies will be driven away and brought to ruin; by Allāh’s ﷻ permission, they shall achieve nothing. May Allāh ﷻ make this blessed. May their spiritual aid remain with us always, in shā’a Llāh. May their barakah abide with us forever. They possess great barakah; without it, people could not have achieved so much. These individuals bring immense benefit to the world, and their barakah reach every corner. May Allāh ﷻ perpetuate this barakah upon us, in shā’a Llāh. May their Himmah (spiritual support) be ever-present. May they grant us a share of their spiritual strength, in shā’a Llāh. May our journey—our going and returning—serve as a means to guidance through their barakah, in shā’a Llāh.

Wa min Allāhi t-Tawfīq. Al-Fātiḥa.
