The Qur’ān is Preserved

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm.
‘Innā naḥnu nazzalnā dh-dhikra wa-innā lahu la-ḥāfiẓūn’, ‘Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur’an and indeed, We will be its guardian.’ (Qur’ān 15:09). Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.
Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says: We revealed Qur’ān ‘Aẓīmu sh-Sha’n to the Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, and We preserve it. Nothing of it is lost or altered. For Qur’ān ‘Aẓīmu sh-Sha’n is the Word of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, His ﷻ eternal Word; thus, it remains under divine protection. Of course, scriptures were revealed to many other prophets as well. Yet, none of them have remained intact. Indeed, hardly a fraction of the original text survives—if any at all. Through repeated alteration, they were eventually molded into whatever form people desired. They are called “holy books,” yet their sanctity has been lost, for people concealed some parts and voiced others according to their own minds. Qur’ān ‘Aẓīmu sh-Sha’n, however, stands among humanity as the very Word and Book of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla; therefore, nothing within it can be altered.
Sometimes, when reciting or speaking, we may make mistakes, and others may recite it incorrectly too. That is not an issue; it causes no harm, for it is under divine protection. However, it is not acceptable if a mistake completely distorts the meaning. Of course, Allāh ﷻ forgives. If a person speaks incorrectly out of ignorance or by mistake—for no one would do so intentionally— Allāh ﷻ forgives them. There are non-Arabs. Arabs— since Arabic is the language of the Qur’an—are a bit better at reciting it without error. As for non-Arabs—referred to as Ajam—their tongues may struggle with certain letters or sounds; they may pronounce some correctly while mispronouncing others. Our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam states: “There are two angels; when a person recites the Qur’an, they correct it and ascend with it—sending it up—to the presence of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla.” Therefore, there is no harm or issue in this. One should simply do as much as one is able. Humans are prone to errors and shortcomings; Allāh ﷻ forgives. As long as
the intention is sincere, it is all accepted. So, one should not worry by saying, “I cannot recite it perfectly.” No matter how one recites it—as we said—there are angels who correct it, elevate it in a more beautiful form to the presence of Allāh ﷻ, and Allāh ﷻ accepts it. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla loves those who honor the Qur’ān and worship Him ﷻ with reverence for it. May Allāh ﷻ make us all among His ﷻ beloved servants, in shā’a Llāh. May Allāh ﷻ be pleased with you.
We, too, are very fortunate people. We are fortunate to be part of the Ummah of our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam and to live in this time; to read, memorize, and—to the best of our ability— put into practice that Book, the Word of Allāh ﷻ. This is the greatest fortune; poverty or illness—none of that truly matters. What is important is to be on the way of Allāh ﷻ—to walk on the way of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla and recite His ﷻ beautiful Word. That Word is healing, it is light, and it is goodness of every kind. May Allāh ﷻ protect us, increase it in our hearts, and not let us forget it, in shā’a Llāh.
Wa min Allāhi t-Tawfīq. Al-Fātiḥa.
There are recited Qur’ān Khatms Shukr to Allāh ﷻ. There are hundreds of Qur’ān Khatms, tasbihat, tahlilāt, salawat, charity and khatms of Dalā’il Al-Khayrāt. We gift them to the soul of our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, for the souls of his Ahlu l-Bayt and ṣaḥābah. For the souls of all prophets, Awliyā’, asfiya, mashāyikh. To the souls of all our ancestors. To the souls of all Muslimin and Muslimat, Mu’minin and Mu’minat. For goodness to come and evil to be warded off. May whatever good intentions those who recite it have be attained. For happiness here and hereafter, in shā’a Llāh.
Li-Llahi Ta’ala, Al-Fatiha.
