Hypocrites with a Smooth Tongue
As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa RaḥmatuLlāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu BiLlāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. BismiLlāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi RasūliLlāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al- Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.
Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says in Qur’ān ‘Aẓīmu sh-Sha’n, you see, there are truthful people, people who keep their word. Those who don’t keep their word are called hypocrites. There are many types of hypocrites. And there are those who are not Muslim but appear to be Muslim. But there are no more of them. Because if someone is an unbeliever, they say they are unbelievers; they don’t hide it anymore now. On the other hand, those who don’t keep their word, who are not with the people Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla loves, who are distant from them, and who, if they don’t repent, will face a bad end, says Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. If they repent, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says that He ﷻ is the one who forgives the greatest sins, the most sinful one. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is the most forgiving. Human beings can forgive, but something will remain inside them, in their hearts, but Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla forgives without leaving anything. When a person repents, they are free of these things.
Our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam also said in the ḥadīth sharīf we read, “What I fear most for you after me is every hypocrite with a smooth tongue.” Because he makes the truth appear bad and the bad appear as true. Especially if people follow him, may Allāh ﷻ protect us, he causes great fitnah (discord). Besides fitnah, he also harms the hereafter of those people. Those people are destroyed. They face bad consequences in this world and even worse consequences in the hereafter.
Therefore, our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam warns us to be wary of such hypocrites. Now, people say, “This man speaks so beautifully,” or “He talks about religion, faith, and so on.” But the hypocrite’s trick is that if he inserts a few words into what he says and corrupts people’s beliefs, he thinks he’s gaining something. Such people, hypocrites, are patient. It is these kinds of people who are destroying the entire Islamic world. There were many hypocrites. They started to emerge in the late Ottoman period, during the time of Sultan Abdul Hamid Han II, may he rest in paradise. He said that the book of Ilm Al-Hâl is the book that Muslims, those who belong to Ahlu s-Sunnah, should follow. It states what is right and what is wrong in religion. Those who accept this are Ahlu s-Sunnah Muslims. If you belong to another group, don’t hide among the people. Don’t sow discord among the people. If you are not on this path, if you belong to
another religion, another belief, and you don’t accept this, you reveal yourself. But if you accept it, then you shouldn’t deviate from it. Those who deviate from this path sow discord. And indeed, discord started immediately after the Ottomans.
This fitnah has continued for a hundred years. It’s increasing, not decreasing, unfortunately. Why? Because even if their words aren’t sweet, they convince people. They sow doubt (waswasa) in their hearts, saying, “This path is not right.” This path has been followed for hundreds of years by our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, and after that, this path has been followed. All the scholars, mashāyikh, awliyā’, and companions have walked this path. Now, are you the smart one? Are you the intelligent one? The intelligence given to you is that of shayṭān. It is the intelligence of shayṭān, to sow discord.
That’s why, in the past, during the Ottoman era, the last Islamic state, the Ottoman Empire, was the last Islamic state. You cannot call it an Islamic state without a Caliph. Unfortunately, we can’t do anything about it, but we must tell the truth: they deceived everyone with their words, by writing and shaping. Taking advice from the shayṭāns who fragmented the Ottoman Empire, they have already divided Islām enough. As if that’s not enough, they will not rest until they erase Islām from the world. And they will not erase it, it will not be erased, by the permission of Allāh ﷻ. What will be erased is disbelief, by the permission of Allāh ﷻ, in shā’a Llāh. That is the promise of Allāh ﷻ, it is true. What Allāh ﷻ says is the truth. Islām will spread throughout the world, with Allāh’s ﷻ permission. Let the hypocrites do whatever they want. The important thing is not to believe what they say. Everything they tell you is false and misleading.
Wa min Allāhi t-Tawfīq. Al-Fātiḥa.
