Important is Intention

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa RaḥmatuLlāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu BiLlāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. BismiLlāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi RasūliLlāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al- Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm:

(Qur’ān 40:39). ‘Innamā Hadhihi Al-Ĥayā Atu Ad-Dunyā Matā`un’, ‘Truly, this life of the world is nothing but a (quick passing) enjoyment.’ Sadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says, dunyā is nothing; it’s useless. If you misuse this useless thing, it won’t benefit you. However, if you use it for the sake of Allāh ﷻ, then it attains value. It goes from being worthless to being valuable.

Therefore, everything must be done for Allāh’s ﷻ pleasure. Intention is very important. The first ḥadīth we learned of our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam is:

“Actions are but by intentions, and each person will have but that which he intended.” All of a person’s actions depend on their intentions. If the intention is good, the outcome will be good. If the intention is bad, then it will be bad from the beginning.

Therefore, whatever you do; When you set out on a journey, study, or travel, let your intention always be for the pleasure of Allāh ﷻ. If you do this, you will gain both this world and the hereafter. Otherwise, if your intention is evil and you think, “How can I deceive people, how can I gain advantage for myself?”, then don’t strive in vain. Abandon that endeavor from the start. Because neither you nor anyone else will benefit from it.

Therefore, turning worldly life into good is in one’s own hands. If a person wants to, he can choose not to do evil, or he can do good. Therefore, let our intention always be for the sake of Allāh ﷻ and to do good. Let our intention be, in shā’a Llāh, to be a servant as Allāh ﷻ desires and commands. That intention will benefit you in this world, hereafter and forever. Otherwise, you will see no benefit. There are those who think they are very

clever; they think, “I will do this, I will do that, I will deceive people.” But then they themselves suffer the greatest deception.

May Allāh ﷻ protect us. May Allāh ﷻ protect us all from the evil of our egos. Those who do not do their work for the sake of Allāh ﷻ are always in loss. Shukr to Allāh ﷻ, our intention is to please Allāh ﷻ, alhamduliLlāh. This is the intention of the people of ṭarīqah. This is what we have been taught. The people of ṭarīqah follow the way of our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. Others, however, abandon Allāh ﷻ and seek benefit and advantage from people; this is of no use. May Allāh ﷻ protect us. May Allāh ﷻ keep us steadfast on the right way, in shā’a Llāh.
