Do Not Think About Allāh’s ﷻ Essence

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa RaḥmatuLlāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu BiLlāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. BismiLlāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi RasūliLlāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al- Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm,

“Huwa Al-Ladhī Khalaqa As-Samāwāti Wa Al-’Arđa Fī Sittati ’Ayyāmin”, “It is He who created the heavens and earth in six days.” (Qur’ān 57:04).

“Wa Qaddara Fīhā ’Aqwātahā”, “And measured therein its sustenance (for its dwellers).” (Qur’ān 41:10). Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.

Our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says, “We must contemplate and think of the power of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. Our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says, “Don’t think about the essence of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla; what He ﷻ is like, where He ﷻ is, etc. Instead, contemplate His ﷻ creations. Take lessons from them. Through them, understand the majesty of Allāh ﷻ.”

Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla who created this world, this earth, has done everything with a measure and a plan. There are some things that people can understand, but those are few. People cannot comprehend most things. If a person interferes with the things they cannot understand, then they lose their mind. Either their īmān or their mind is lost. Therefore, our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says, “Do not contemplate the essence of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla.” Let alone thinking of it, some people go too far in worshipping unnecessary things as if they were gods. Some go even further than that. It’s as if, God forbid, Allāh ﷻ has come in the shape of human and entered between people. These things are so illogical, so devoid of logic. You are a human being; Allah ﷻ has given you mind; your mind has limits. There are limits to certain things. Don’t approach them. If you approach them, you will perish. If you approach them, you will be destroyed. Therefore, you must know those limits.

Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla created the heavens and the earth. He ﷻ says He ﷻ created them in six days, according to human calculations. Allāh ﷻ knows how many millions or billions they were in those six days. You don’t know that, but people are still striving to understand things. They keep striving and striving to figure out “how big this universe is.” But people can’t find the end or the limit. Even this shows the majesty of Allāh ﷻ. He ﷻ created everything, how He ﷻ calculated it, everything that has been made, billions and trillions of stars existing without colliding with each other. And like everything else, they too have a lifespan. After their lifespan ends, something else happens. Allāh ﷻ knows what will happen.

Now it’s our turn. When our turn comes, we must meet Allāh ﷻ in peace. Think about that. Let us perform His ﷻ commands and the beautiful acts of worship that He ﷻ has bestowed upon us. After that, we should wait for the day when we will meet Allāh ﷻ, believing in Him ﷻ. For that day is the most important day. To depart with īmān, to save our īmān and go to the Hereafter—that is what is important.

May Allāh ﷻ accept all our acts of worship. Of course, our worship is deficient. There are some people who interfere in everyone’s affairs. Many people interfere, saying, “You did your worship well, you prayed well, you didn’t pray well.” We know that our worship is deficient. Allāh ﷻ accepts our deficiencies. May Allāh ﷻ forgive us. May Allāh ﷻ accept it, in shā’a Llāh. And may He ﷻ grant us to reach Paradise, in shā’a Llāh, all of us, in shā’a Llāh.
