Intention Is Better than Deeds

1 min read

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa Raḥmatullāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu Billāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi Rasūlillāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al-Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says, “Actions are but by intentions, and each person will have but that which he intended.” Everything you do, what your intention is, Allāh ﷻ rewards you for this: what your intention is.

If his intention in what he is doing is for Allāh ﷻ and our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, his intention is accepted. And if his intention is for dunya or for somebody to get married or to benefit from something, it will be an intention purely for this, not for Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla.

This is the first Hadith of Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam that is taught when someone starts to study Hadith. Intention is very important.

For this, in everything, our intention must be purely for Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam is saying,. Which means the intention is better than what you do. You intend to do very good things, very special things. But we are human, we cannot do all what we intend for. Allāh ﷻ rewards you for your intention. Even if you do one percent, He ﷻ rewards you for your intention.

We must, insha'Allah, every time, our intention must be purely for the sake of Allāh ﷻ and for the pleasure of Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. Everything we do, insha’Allah they accept our intention to follow the order of Allāh ﷻ and our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam as much we can. May Allāh ﷻ accept this and reward us insha’Allah.

Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.
