Hadith Lesson: Virtues of Prayer in Masjid an-Nabawi and Ka’bah
As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa RaḥmatuLlāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu BiLlāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. BismiLlāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi RasūliLlāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al-Ḥaqqānī. Madad.
1Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:
Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “Allah Almighty, ‘Azza wa-Jalla sends down 120 mercies every day and every night to this Masjid, to Ka’bah: 60 of them are to those who make Tawaf.” Allah ’Azza wa-Jalla grants 60 out of 120 to those who make Tawaf. “40 are to those who pray.” Those who pray there receive 40 of that mercy. “And 20 are to those who look at the Ka’bah.” Those who just look at Ka’bah without doing anything are given 20 from that mercy. Every minute is beneficial and full of Barakah there.
2Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:
Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “The best among places to go on a journey are this mosque - Masjid an-Nabawi and Bayt al-Atiq - Ka’bah.” The best places to go to are these places - Masjid of our Holy Prophet ﷺ and Ka’bah.
3Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:
Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “A prayer someone performs at home is one prayer.” He attains Thawab of one prayer. “A prayer performed in Jama’ah in Masjid equals to 25 prayers.” He attains that much Thawab. “A prayer performed in Masjid where Jum’ah is prayed equals to 500 prayers.” There is that much Thawab when a prayer is performed in a mosque where they pray Jum’ah. There are Masjids where they don’t pray Jum’ah. In Masjids where they pray Jum’ah, they attain Thawab of 500 prayers. “A prayer performed in Masjid al-Aqsa equals to 5,000 prayers.” It is 5,000 times the prayer performed at home. “A prayer in this Masjid equals to 50,000 prayers.” A prayer performed in the Masjid of our Holy Prophet ﷺ - Masjid an-Nabawi has Thawab of 50,000 prayers. “A prayer performed in Masjid al-Haram equals to 100,000 prayers.” Can a person perform 100,000 prayers throughout his life? In Ka’bah, he attains 100,000 Thawab in one prayer.
Some people who go to Umrah are lazy and stay in a hotel. They pray in the hotel. They say it is within the borders of aAl-Haram. There are al-Haram borders in the Masjid in Madinah. They say prayers performed within them are the same. They are not the same. Prayers performed in Masjid an-Nabawi are different, prayers in Ka’bah are different, and those performed outside them are different. They don’t want people to attain much Thawab. So they say as long as you are here, it is ok. They say you are within the borders of Mecca and no matter where you pray here, you attain 100,000 Thawab. That is not so. Our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says that is inside his ﷺ Masjid or in Ka’bah.
4Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:
Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “One prayer performed in this Masjid is superior over 1,000 prayers performed in other Masjids outside Masjid alHaram, Ka’bah.”
5Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:
Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “One prayer performed in this Masjid is superior over 1,000 prayers performed in other Masjids outside Masjid alHaram.” A prayer performed in Masjid al-Haram is superior than the rest. “Undoubtedly, I am the last of the Prophets. And my Masjid is the last of Masjids.” It is the last Masjid of Prophets. Other Prophets had their Masjids too, but their places are unknown. The Masjid of our Holy Prophet ﷺ is known, Shukr to Allah ﷻ.
6Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:
Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “One prayer performed in my Masjid is superior over 1,000 prayers performed in other Masjids outside Masjid alHaram.” The Masjid of our Holy Prophet ﷺ Masjid an-Nabawi is known. Shukr to Allah ﷻ, it is built so large; it takes hundred thousands of people in. Not going there is heedlessness. “One prayer performed in Masjid al-Haram is superior over 100,000 prayers performed in other places.”
7Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:
Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “One prayer performed in this mosque is superior over 1,000 prayers performed in other Masjids outside Masjid alHaram. And a prayer performed in Masjid al-Haram is superior over 100 prayers performed in my Masjid.” It is 100,000 superior in such case.
Sadaqa RasuluLlah fi ma qal, aw kama qal. The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ says the truth in what he ﷺ said or as he ﷺ said.
