Hadith Lesson: Actions to Do when Adhan Is Called

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa RaḥmatuLlāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu BiLlāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. BismiLlāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi RasūliLlāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al-Ḥaqqānī. Madad.

[…] he should pray as if he will leave this world and die, as if it is his last prayer. Dunya should not keep him busy while he prays, says our Holy Prophet ﷺ.

1Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “When you hear the Adhan, repeat what the Mu’azzin says.” Takbir, Shahada, Shahada of our Holy Prophet ﷺ. Repeat everything one after another with the Mu’azzin until he finishes it. And during “Hayya a’la s-salah, hayya a’la l-falah” you must recite La hawla.

2Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “When you hear the Adhan, stand up for the prayer, because it is a certain call from Allah ﷻ.” Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla is calling you, so accept it. That is the meaning of Adhan.

3Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “When you hear the Adhan, accept the call of the Mu’azzin, the inviter of Allah ﷻ.”

4Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “When you hear Mu’azzin calling Adhan, say the same of what he says.” The duty of the Mu’azzin is different, and the duty of those who hear him is to repeat what he says. “Then make Salawat upon me.” When the Adhan is finished, They used to say “As-salatu wa s-salamu ‘alayka ya RasuluLlah” in all mosques in old times. They are not doing so anymore because of Wahabis and Salafis. They say it is not permissible, whereas it is mentioned in Hadith Sharif. They say, “We are reciting this Dua”. Reciting that is different, and Salawat is different. You should recite it after Salawat. “ ..”, “Allahumma Rabba hadhihi d-da’wati t-tamma, wa s-salati lqa’ima..” is a Dua, it is not Salawat. Salatu s-salam is different, it must be before that Dua. It was recited all over the world. Now they recite it in very few places. It is recited in rare places. People are deprived from that. “Because whoever makes one Salawat to me, Allah ﷻ will show him mercy ten times in return.” They are depriving all people from this mercy.

“Then ask Allah ﷻ to give me ﷺ the Wasila. Wasila is a rank in paradise. It is meant only to one of the beloved servants of Allah ﷻ.” Our Holy Prophet ﷺ says the rank of Wasila is given only to one person. He ﷺ says out of humbleness, “I hope I become that one.” Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is the most humble one. “Whoever wishes for me ﷺ to be given the Wasila, my ﷺ intercession will be Halal and assured to him.” Certainly, the rank of Wasila is our Holy Prophet’s ﷺ, not anyone else’s. Nevertheless, he ﷺ makes us recite that Dua for our benefit, so that we attain his ﷺ intercession insha’Allah.

5Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “When Mu’azzin calls Adhan for the prayer, thee doors of heaven open, and Dua made is accepted.” Dua is more accepted when the Adhan is being called.

6Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “When the call for prayer is called, when the Adhan is called, doors of heaven open, and Dua made is accepted.”

7Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “Doors are open in four places and Dua is accepted.” There are four places, this is important. “This is when they stand up together on the way of Allah ﷻ against enemies.” This is the first one. The second is: “When it rains.” That is also the time when Dua is accepted. “When Iqamah is made for the prayer.” That is for the honor of the Adhan. “And when you see the Ka’bah.” If you make Dua when you see Ka’bah, your Dua will be accepted.

8Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “Dua made between the Adhan and Iqamah is not rejected.”

9Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “Dua made between the Adhan and Iqamah is accepted. Therefore, make Dua in that time.” People make Dua, but there are times when they are accepted. That is between the Adhan and Iqamah.

10-Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “Dua made between the Adhan and Iqamah is accepted.”

11-Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “Dua made while the Mu’azzin is calling Adhan is accepted. And no Dua is rejected the during the Iqamah.”

12-Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “Whoever hears the Mu’azzin calling the Adhan and repeats what he says gets Thawab like him.” The Thawab of Mu’azzins is very great, as we read last week. Not everyone is able to call the

Adhan to attain this Thawab. When you say what he is saying from wherever you are sitting or standing, you will receive as much Thawab as him.

13-Qala RasuluLlah salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ (peace be upon him ﷺ) says:

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is saying, “Wasila is a rank in the presence of Allah ﷻ. There is no higher rank above it.” It is the highest rank that Allah ‘Azza waJalla will give only to one person who is our Holy Prophet our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. “Ask from Allah ﷻ to give me ﷺ the rank of Wasila.” People usually know the Dua to be recited after the Adhan. But no one knows what is the Wasila. That is the highest rank, and it is the rank of our Holy Prophet ﷺ. We will have the intercession through his ﷺ Wasila (means) insha’Allah.

Sadaqa RasuluLlah fi ma qal, aw kama qal. The Messenger of Allāh ﷻ says the truth in what he ﷺ said or as he ﷺ said.

Ziyadatan ila sharafi’ ‘n-Nabi, sallaLlahu `alayhi wa sallam wa Alihi wa Asahabihi l-kiram, wa ila arwahi jamee’i al Anbiya’i wa l-Mursalin wa Khudama’i sharai’ihim wa ila arwahi al ‘Aimmati al arba’a, wa ila arwahi Mashayyikhina fi tTariqati n-Naqshbandiyyati l-Aliyyah, khassatan Imamu t-Tariqah wa Ghawthu lKhaliqah Khwaja Bahauddin Muhammad al-Uwaisiyi l-Bukhari, Sayyidina Abdul Khaliq al Ghujduwani, Mawlana Shaykh Sharafuddin al Daghestani, Mawlana Shaykh Abdullah al Faiz al Daghestani, Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Adil al Haqqani, wa sai’ri Sadatina wa s-Siddiqiyun, wa man nahnu fi hadratihim wa jiwarihim, to all our passed ones, for the souls of all Shaheeds. Li-Llahi Ta’ala, AlFatiha.

(Translation) To the honor of the Prophet, Prayers and Peace be upon Him, and his family, and his companions, and the souls of all the prophets as well as of His messengers and of those who served their Sharia, and to the souls of the four Imams. And to the souls of our Mashayikh of the Most Distinguished Naqshbandi

Tariqa, in particular to the soul of the Imam of the Tariqa Ghawth al-Khaliqa (the Help of Creation), Khwaja Bahauddin Muhammad al-Uwaisiyi l-Bukhari, Sayyidina Abdul Khaliq al Ghujduwani, Mawlana Shaykh Sharafuddin al Daghestani, Mawlana Shaykh Abdullah al Faiz al Daghestani, Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Adil al Haqqani, and the rest of our masters and Siddiqiyun, and to whom we are in their presence and near them, to all our passed ones, for the souls of all Shaheeds. To Allah Almighty, Al-Fatiha.
