Ask Forgiveness Tonight

4 min read

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa Raḥmatullāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu Billāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi Rasūlillāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al-Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

AlhamduliLlah tonight in shā’a Llāh will be the night of 15th of Shā’bān. It is a blessed night in the Hijri calendar. It is nice. There are special nights, one of them is this night. About which Allāh Azza wa Jalla also says in Qur'ān, Bismi Llāhi rRaḥmāni r-Raḥīm:, “Fīhā Yufraqu Kullu 'Amrin Ĥakīm (4)”, “On that night is made distinct every precise matter.” (Qur’an 44:04). On this night, they approve what will happen for next year, in shā'a Llāh, for good things, in shā’a Llāh. For the Mu’min good, for the believer good, everything is good.

Allāh Azza wa Jalla also says by the ḥadīth of Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam, Allāh ﷻ is looking - Allāh Azza wa Jalla is all the time looking but this is for this special night. He ﷻ forgives everyone who want forgiveness. He ﷻ forgives them. It is a good occasion to clean ourselves. Ask forgiveness in this night, “O our Lord, forgive us, take these dirty sins off our back, make us to be light, to be bright in shā’a Llāh.” We ask from Him ﷻ in this night in shā'a Llāh, from Maghrib until Fajr. Anytime you ask for forgiveness, He ﷻ will forgive. [He ﷻ doesn’t forgive] only who is not a believer, He ﷻ said. And the people who are fighting each other, not making peace between each other. Only these two kinds of people that He ﷻ doesn’t forgive. But for others, they must, you must ask for forgiveness.

And for this occasion, it is a very important thing to not fight with each other. Fighting is not good between the Mu’mins, believers. They are brothers, ikhwā. ‘ ’, ‘Innama l-mu’minūna ikhwa’, ‘The believers are but brothers.’ (Qur’ān 49:10). Allāh Azza wa Jalla says.

But we ask Allāh Azza wa Jalla to help us, to be deserving of this forgiveness in shā’a Llāh. Allāh ﷻ is generous. When He ﷻ forgives our sins, He ﷻ changes them to reward. This is also from His ﷻ generosity; not afraid to finish. The (most) richest people cannot do so, they cannot. They are afraid if they give, they are afraid that it will maybe finish, “What we have will finish.” Even if they have billions, also

they are afraid. But Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is not afraid. For this, take as much as you can take from this treasure. This is the real treasure that will be forever. Not like the rich people, they have billions but do not give a penny. They will also leave them and die; they will leave them behind them. There is no benefit for them, and no benefit for other. For this we are asking Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla forgiveness and to change our sins to reward in shā’a Llāh.

Tonight in shā’a Llāh, after Maghrib, we read three times Surat Yāsīn, each one with an intention; what we want. After this, in shā’a Llāh pray Ishā’. After Ishā’, also we will be praying a hundred Rak’at; in the first Rak’ah two ikhlāṣ, and in the second [Rak’ah] one ikhlāṣ. You can read also ten Ikhlāṣ in each Rak’ah. It is also better, but for us it is easier and Allāh ﷻ accepts. Mawlānā from his mercy, he taught us to make this. Many people say you must read ten Ikhlāṣ or more. Yes, you are free. We do not prevent people from doing more Nafl. Nafilah makes us more nearer for Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. As much you can do, do. Maybe somebody cannot do and become happy. If he becomes happy, it is better to do; easier and more acceptable.

As they say, to do a small thing and be continuous in it is better than to do one big thing and then nothing [to stop]. Better to be dropping water, like a drop, and not cutting. Subḥāna Llāh, this year also Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla made it in many places not raining, not raining, not raining, dry. After that, Allāh ﷻ sent rain, becoming flood everywhere. This is for ākhiru z-zamān also from Allāh Azza wa Jalla. He ﷻ is not happy with [people of] ākhiru z-zamān. He ﷻ sends them as not mercy, but punishment. For this to be dropping little by little better than a big thing and nothing later. This is also important for ṭarīqah people.

Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.
