On the Interpretation of Dreams

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa RaḥmatuLlāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu BiLlāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. BismiLlāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi RasūliLlāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al- Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm:

(Qur’ān 12:44). ‘Qālū 'Ađghāthu 'Aĥlāmin Wa Mā Naĥnu Bita'wīli Al-'Aĥlāmi Bi`ālimīn’, ‘They said, "[It is but] a mixture of false dreams, and we are not learned in the interpretation of dreams.".’ Sadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm. Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla says about dreams. Yusuf ‘alayhi s-salam used to know how to interpret dreams. His interpretation and explanation of dreams was very accurate.

There are some people who can interpret dreams well. That is by the wisdom of Allah ﷻ. When people close their eyes, they go to other universes and places. By the wisdom of Allah ﷻ, some dreams are true, some dreams are from shaytan and some dreams occur under the influence of that day. Therefore, when you have a good dream, make Shukr to Allah ﷻ. If there is someone who interprets well, tell it to him. If not, no need to share it, because it happens the way you interpret the dream.

One man told his true dream to Yusuf ‘alayhi s-salam, and another man made it up in his head. It was the means of perishing for the man who had made it up. People say, “We had a bad dream. We got very scared”. There is nothing to be scared of. As long as you don’t tell it to anyone, it doesn’t have any impact or harm. Therefore, those who have bad dreams or something they don’t know, they shouldn’t share them. If you don’t tell about it, it will go away however you saw it. Otherwise, if you tell about it and someone interprets it in bad way, you will get its harm then.

The matter of dreams has an amazing wisdom of Allah ﷻ. People must look at them as a lesson. They must look at them as a power and greatness of Allah ‘Azza waJalla. Our huge life is like a dream. Even if you live for a hundred years, it will be over like a dream. Therefore, dreams are important. And what you do with them is also important. As we said, don’t pay attention to bad dreams. When you see something bad in your dream, seek refuge in Allah ﷻ. If you repent and ask for forgiveness from Allah ﷻ, it will be over and it will not have any effect with the permission of Allah ﷻ.

Some people come and say they have very bad dreams. They are not important at all, Shukr to Allah ﷻ. There is nothing like every dream must come to life. But as we said, don’t tell even bad dreams to people who will interpret them. Even if they will interpret it well for you, don’t tell them. May Allah ﷻ give us good and wise life. May we appreciate the wisdom of Allah ﷻ and we must, of course, interpret it to goodness. May Allah ﷻ give us a good long life. May Allah ﷻ protect us from the evil and badness. May Allah ﷻ protect all of us from Fitnah and immortality.
