Why are Awliya Hidden?

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa Raḥmatullāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu Billāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi Rasūlillāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al-Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

BismiLlahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim:

(Qur’ān 10:62). ‘Alā inna awliyā’a Llāhi lā khawfun a’layhim wa-lā hum yaḥzanūn’, ‘Verily on the friends of Allah there is no fear, nor shall they grieve.’ Sadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm. Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla saying about those beloved to Him ﷻ: there is no fear for them and no sadness insha’Allah. ‘ ’, ‘Alladhīna āmanū wakānū yattaqūn’, Those who believed and have been pious.’ (Qur’ān 10:63). Awliyau’Llah, those who believe, are believers and fear from Allah ﷻ. These are Awliyau’Llah.

Of course, there are many Awliyau’Llah but in this time, they are hiding. All of them are hidden ones. You could see only very few from Awliyau’Llah. They are appearing but not very clearly. In old times, Awliyau’Llah were many. There were pure people, pure believers. For this, it was easy for people to understand them and follow them. There was no Fitnah like in this time. People are objecting everything. When it comes to serious matters, they are not taking care at all. For what’s not important, they are making people really hopeless, to have no hope. That’s the opposite of the Ayah. Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla says, Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm: , ‘Lā Taqnatū Min Raĥmati Allāhi, 'Inna Allāha Yaghfiru dh-Dhunūba Jamī’āan’, ‘Do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins.’ (Qur’ān 39:53). Allah ﷻ is saying, “Don’t be hopeless!” Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla forgives everything. Don’t worry. The Hadith of Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says: Allah ﷻ says, “If you are not doing any sin or not doing any wrong thing, I will create people who make sins to forgive them.” That’s how Great and Merciful Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla is with us.

People are even saying from themselves and putting new things in religion. And after that they say, “You are Bid’ah.” AlhamduliLlah we are following this order of Allah ﷻ and order of Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam:, "Yassirū wa-lā tu‘assirū, Bashshirū wa-lā tunaffirū", “Make things easy and do not make them difficult; give people good tidings and do not make them run away.” Sadaqa RasuluLlah (The Messenger of Allah ﷻ has spoken the truth.) This Hadith means, make it easy don’t make it difficult. Give good tidings, don’t make people hopeless. “I am the Most Forgiving.” Nobody can forgive people like Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla.

But these people are - we heard something in Jakarta two days ago. They asked their Jama’ah (community) - I don’t know, I heard many things from people saying some weird things. They are saying things that are neither in religion, nor in Hadith, nor in Qur’an. What they said is really weird. They said that when you read Qur’an you must make the Makharij. What does it mean? You must recite - many of them are African or from this side, they say instead of the letter, “Sh” - the letter, “S”. You cannot! They say: As’hadu an la Ilaha illa Allah. You cannot! You must say: Ash’hadu an la Ilaha illa Allah. They say, “Bilal Al Habashi was like this”; from the time of Prophet ﷺ and they are still like this. You cannot! Other people maybe cannot pronounce: “ “,” “,” ”. Also many of them cannot. But they said to these people, “If you don’t do this, if you are not reading right, you will go to Jahannam!” Jahannam is for them! It is their shop, they can take people as they like. These people are making Islam really not as a religion, as if it is theirs. After that, they tell people they are Mushrik and are giving rulings that Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla is not happy with and Prophet ﷺ is not happy with, and [things] they’ve never said.

Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says - look at how merciful Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam is for us, for the Ummah - read Qur’an as you can, there are angels that correct what we read. Because even Arabs, most of Arabs, don’t know Tajweed. They don’t know Tajweed, they just read. Even many of them say, “Za” in place of, “Dha.” Many of them. But from the mercy of Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam and for his ﷺ sake, Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla said, “I create angels.” - Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla is creating angels nonstop. There is one part of them just for correcting what the Mu’mins read from Qur’an. They correct it before it goes out of his mouth. And it’s accepted in the Divine Presence of Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla.

This is AlhamduliLlah how lucky we are! We are lucky to be in the way of right people, Ahlu s-Sunnah wal Jama’ah; since the time Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam until now. You must be very happy because many people sacrifice

themselves in the way that Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla is not happy with and Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam is not happy with. He ﷺ didn’t order this. He ﷺ even prohibited this: to make people think/make something that is not in religion. There is a verse, Ayah in Qur’an that curses these people who say for Halal, Haram; or about good thing that it is not a good thing; saying for Haram, Halal. These ones are also cursed. In this time, we have many of these people. Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says about these people that they read Qur’an, they read Hadith but it doesn’t go further than their mouths, it doesn’t come into their hearts. And that they are going out of Islam as the arrow leaves the bow, that fast. We are living in this same time, because there is no belief, and no Islam after this. When you do according to your mind, you will be punished and you will lose your belief, your Iman. This is a very dangerous thing.

As we said, we are in this time, Awliyau’Llah are hidden. Of course, everything Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla made a time for. There is saying for Awliyau’Llah: , I want and You want, and Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla does whatever He ﷻ wants. There are many things happening in the world, there cannot be what you want. You must follow what Allah ﷻ wants. This time is the time of Fitnah. For this, Awliyau’Llah are hiding. In old times, many people can see thousands of Awliyau’Llah.

One of them is called Sümbül Sinan. He was living in Istanbul. And he had one Murid called Hasib Efendi who was living far from Istanbul in Central Anatolia in Turkey. He said, “I was working, doing my profession. I have a shop. I was only looking at my Rizq. I am not looking at what doesn’t interest me.” In old times, they were living like this. Each one had a job, a shop. They were happy and satisfied, and nobody was jealous of the other. They were even in that time - until now there are places where every morning the owners of the shops, before opening the shop at 7 or 8 o’clock, they come after Fajr prayer, all these people come and one of them makes Dua. After that, they go to their work for Barakah. In old times it was like this, but until now, you can find this in very few places. So those working in these places are honest people and not jealous people. Many of them if they had a customer, if a second customer comes, they send him, “Go to my neighbor. He didn’t get a customer yet. Go and buy from them.” It was like this. They were giving happiness because people in old times were pure people. Maybe somebody might think they are idiots to do this but they are clever. Because when everybody is happy, you will be more happy. When everybody is unhappy, you will also be unhappy. Happiness is for all. It is for all of us to happy, all people to be happy.

He said, “I was in my shop working. Suddenly, I saw people running towards the mosque. I asked, “What happened? Why are you going there?” They said, “There is one Awliyau’Llah. He came to give a Sohbah, to give a lecture. We are going there.” I will also run to that mosque. I saw this man all Nur/light. He gave a Sohbah, and I was very happy. I immediately wanted to be his Murid, to learn from him. I approached him and kissed his hand and said, “I will be your Murid.” He said, “No. Your Sheikh is not me. He still didn’t appear. When he appears, you can find him.” I believed. Of course I left, but I asked his Murid, “Who is this Sheikh?” He said, “This is Sheikh Habib, Habib Efendi.” So I must wait. After that, I was working for 15 years in my town. After that, I went to Istanbul also. I worked there also for 15 years. After 30 years had passed from that time, they said, “There is a big Awliya’uLlah here.” I went there and when I reached there, this Awliyau’Llah accepted me and said, “Do you remember 30 years ago, Sheikh Habib told you that your Sheikh will find you?” I was shocked by this and I knew he was a real Awliyau’Llah. I took Bay’ah with him and he accepted me as a Murid and he taught me and made me his Khalifah.”

Awliya’uLlah in old times were making Karamah apparently and nobody was objecting this. Now they say - because when saying something bad for Awliyau’Llah, Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla is not happy, Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla is angry with people. They are beloved ones for Allah ﷻ, Allah ﷻ takes revenge from these people who are saying bad things for Awliyau’Llah. For this, they are not appearing to not make more curse for the Ummah. They disappear and when their time comes, they will all appear; the time of Sayyidina Al-Mahdi ‘alayhi s-salam insha’Allah. In this time, every day you see Fitnah, war, bombs. Everywhere will be [done] with Mahdi ‘alayhi s-salam. Insha’Allah he will come soon and finish all these problems in the world. All problems are becoming very bad. Everyday it is becoming more entangled. This can only be [disentangled] with Mahdi ‘alayhi s-salam. May Allah ﷻ make him come soon insha’Allah. We hope insha’Allah that it is very soon but Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla knows. He ﷻ knows better than all of us. May Allah ﷻ make it soon because from East to West, everywhere there are real problems. We now see the problems in Palestine, and in many places they are suffering also. Especially Muslim people, they are suffering in the whole world. The most suffering people are Muslim people. But Allah ﷻ rewards them. This suffering is not for nothing, it is blessed and there is reward insha’Allah. May Allah ﷻ help Muslims and help Islam insha’Allah. May Allah ﷻ send us the Savior Sayyidina Al-Mahdi ‘alayhi s-salam insha’Allah.
