Make Intention for Allah ﷻ
As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa Raḥmatullāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu Billāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi Rasūlillāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al-Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.
Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm:
(Qur’an 02:215). “Wa-mā tafʿalū min khayrin fa-inna llāha bihī ʿalīm”, “And whatever you do of good - indeed, Allah is Knowing of it.” Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is saying whatever goodness you do, Allāh ﷻ knows it. It is important that Allāh ﷻ knows. And it is not important if other people know it or not.
But in order to show off, mankind does many things by demonstrating it. Their intention is as such that many people do certain things because someone else did it. They build schools and other things, and put their names on them. It is not for the pleasure of Allāh ﷻ then. Their intention is for people to know them. When they make it for their names to live, their intention is not for a good purpose, but for their egos. They do it for themselves and their pride.
Because when something is done for Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, no matter if it is demolished or still there, Allāh ﷻ accepts that goodness until qiyāmah. Because the intention of that person is for people to use those good things and to have the share of the pleasure of Allāh ﷻ for the usage by those people.
Muslims used to do like this in old times. But nowadays, most of them do it in order to avoid paying taxes. They avoid paying taxes and put their names on what they do, as if they own some charity. It is not charity. They do it in order to satisfy their egos as if they are doing something good.
Allāh ﷻ doesn't wish goodness to those people. The people He ﷻ wishes goodness to are those who make charity for the pleasure of Allāh ﷻ, whose intention is for Allāh ﷻ. Such people can do whatever they want. Even if they plant a tree and people or animals eat from it or rest under its shade and benefit from it, it is for their goodness. Their intention is good then. Allāh ﷻ rewards them for this when it is not done for showing off and to say this person did so and so.
Certainly, if someone does goodness and puts his name or the name of his father or mother, yet his intention is the pleasure of Allāh ﷻ and for people to make du‘ā’ for them, it is accepted. It is ok. But things done without remembering Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla at all are useless. They are done for nothing.
May Allāh ﷻ let people see the benefit of the goodness they do. Because as we said, they do it, but it has greater benefits, spiritual benefits in the presence of Allāh ﷻ which are greater. May people think about it insha’Allah. May things not be done for nothing insha’Allah.
Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.
