Economize and Don’t Waste

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa RaḥmatuLlāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu BiLlāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. BismiLlāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi RasūliLlāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al- Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

Our Holy Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says:

A person who economizes and doesn’t waste won’t be in poverty. Poverty comes from wasting. People don’t appreciate anything now. As they don’t know the value of the blessings given by Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla and don’t appreciate them, the Barakah is gone and poverty comes.

They say there is famine and costliness in the world. It is not only in our country. Our people think it is so only here. Shukr to Allah ﷻ, we are better off than everyone, because they know the value of blessings. All of them know it. Those who pray and who don’t pray know it. Nevertheless, there is wasting so Barakah is going away. And it is more in the world.

Allah ’Azza wa-Jalla says wasting is spending money on yourself for nothing. If you give money to other needy ones, it is ok. But the things you buy and throw away without using are wasting. They say, “I am generous”. You are not generous. You are not generous to others but generous to your own ego. You are serving your ego, nothing else.

Allah ﷻ says, “Eat and drink, but do not waste” - ‘ ’, ‘Kulū washrabū wa la tusrifū, ‘Eat and drink, but waste not by extravagance.’ (Qur’ān 07:31). The order of Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla is to eat until you are full, and don’t stay hungry. Dress and take care of your household. But do not waste. This is a big order and advice. Those who don’t do so go against the order of Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla. And they lose Barakah.

Allah ﷻ gave blessings to everyone. And He ﷻ ordered them to appreciate these blessings. Those who appreciate them and make Shukr, Allah ﷻ is pleased with them and increases their blessings. But those who don’t appreciate the blessings and waste them will fall in poverty. This is what our Holy Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says. Who economizes won’t become poor. May Allah ﷻ not make us from wasting ones insha’Allah. And may He ﷻ not decrease His ﷻ blessings but increase them for us insha’Allah.
