Duties of the Day of ‘Ashura

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa RaḥmatuLlāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu BiLlāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. BismiLlāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi RasūliLlāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Shaykh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Shaykh Muḥammad Nāẓim al- Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

Whoever is together with Allah ﷻ is always in profit. Everything he does always brings benefit. A person who carries out the orders of Islam has both physical and spiritual benefits.

We are in these holy days. Today is the 9th of Muharram. Tomorrow is ‘Ashura, the 10th. The advice of our Holy Prophet ﷺ for tomorrow is that whoever takes a shower on that day will not have a serious disease throughout that year. Whoever applies kohl in their eyes will not have eye pain. And whoever does charity and goodness for their family and poor ones will have Barakah that year.

Therefore, this is for both Dunya and Akhirah. It has both physical and spiritual benefits. When you carry out the orders of our Holy Prophet ﷺ, you have health in your body and strength in your soul.

There are other things as well. Of course, there is fasting. Fasting on the 9th and 10th, or on the 10th and 11th is a great Shifa’/cure and strength insha’Allah. There is a four-Raka’āh prayer to be performed. Four Raka’āt with 11 Ikhlas in each Raka’āh. If we pray the ‘Ashura prayer, its Barakah will be upon us. Tasbihat and Ikhlas, whatever we make; that is a holy day pointed by our Holy Prophet ﷺ as a blessed day. Its benefits and Barakah will be upon us insha’Allah.

If there are other things that you can do, do them. Do as much goodness as you can for yourself, for your Dunya and Akhirah. In order to be protected from the Fitnahs and disasters of the present time, that is necessary for us. The more worship and the more goodness you do, the more benefit you will get. As we are living in the end of times, worship and goodness have more Thawab. They have much more benefits. That is what we need the most in order to be protected from the Fitnah of this time. We can only be protected with that, not any other way.

When Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla protects you, you are protected. Otherwise, whatever you do, unless Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla protects you, you cannot be protected. Therefore, it is a chance. Today, tomorrow and always. But these days are more virtuous and more powerful both physically and spiritually. May Allah ﷻ bless them for us. May Allah ﷻ let us reach many more years. May we reach next year with Mahdi ‘alayhi s-salam and with the victory of Islam insha’Allah.
