The Lucky Ummah

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa Raḥmatullāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu Billāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi Rasūlillāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Sheikh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nāẓim al-Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

I remember this saying of Grand Sheikh Mawlana Sheikh AbduLlah adDaghestani Masha’Allah. He used to repeat this Qasidah:

“Good tidings for us in Islam, that we have an unbreakable support of grace.” Good tidings for people in Islam, because they have a strong building that cannot be destroyed.

We must be thankful because this strong building is of the Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. The one whom Allah ﷻ loves, praises and gives us everything for his ﷺ honor. And the Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam was all the time thinking about us, about his ﷺ nation, Ummah and asking for forgiveness from Allah ﷻ for us. He ﷺ wasn’t looking for anything from Dunya. He ﷺ was, day and night, praying for the Ummah, for human beings to come and accept this good way and good thing that Allah ﷻ will give. Allah ﷻ promised him ﷺ, Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm: ‘ ’, ‘Wa-Lasawfa Yu’tīka Rabbuka Fatarda’, ‘And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied.’ (Qur’ān 93:05). “Allah ﷻ will give you ﷺ until you ﷺ are happy.” Not giving him ﷺ from Dunya, gold, silver or jewelry. This is not important for the Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. The important gift of Allah ﷻ for him ﷺ is to save people from Jahannam, from hell.

On the Day of Resurrection, the Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam will ask for Shafa’ah/intercession for his ﷺ nation, for the Ummah and Allah ﷻ will give him ﷺ. He ﷺ will ask and Allah ﷻ will give him ﷺ and give him ﷺ until he ﷺ says, “I am happy.” This is what he ﷺ is happy with. Allah ﷻ already gave the Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam Jannah/paradise from the beginning. He ﷺ

visited paradise, Jannah, and he ﷺ knows all of this. But he ﷺ wasn’t happy without his ﷺ Ummah coming to paradise.

For this, we are a lucky nation, a lucky Ummah. Of course we are the last nation, the last Ummah, but we are lucky to be from Ummat Sayyidina Muhammad salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. Because for the sake of our Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, when we do something not good, something wrong or a sin - there are two angels: one on the right and one on the left, they are writing everything. So when you do something good, the angel on the right side immediately writes. But when you do a wrong thing, the one on the left side waits, maybe you ask for forgiveness and so he will not write it. He waits for one hour, two hours; he waits until eight hours, and if this man or woman doesn’t ask for forgiveness, he says, “What will we do? Okay we waited too much, we must write it after that.” For the sake of the Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, Allah ﷻ gives a chance for people to repent and ask for forgiveness. You must make this in everything you do, if you do a sin, and Allah ﷻ will forgive you insha’Allah. Of course, you must repent, you must ask forgiveness and not to be happy with what you do.

This is a mercy from Allah ﷻ for Ummat Sayyidina Muhammad salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam because other Ummahs don’t have this much tolerance. When Sayyidina Musa ‘alayhi s-salam was in Tur Sina’, Mount Sinai to address Allah ﷻ - before addressing Allah ﷻ, he must make a spiritual cleansing, so he was doing a thirty-day fasting. And because he is going to be in the Divine Presence, to address Allah ‘Azza wa Jalla, he has to be more clean. And because he was fasting, his mouth had a smell so he was cleaning his mouth. When he did this, Allah ‘Azza wa Jalla sent Jibra’il ‘alayhi s-salam to ask him why he did that. He said, “Because I want to be clean, to not have a bad smell.” Jibra’il said, “You don’t know that the smell of the mouth of fasting people is very valuable for Allah ﷻ, and you removed it. You must fast ten days more.” After that, Allah ﷻ accepted him and sent him the Alwah’/Tablets. He ﷻ told him, “When you were here, one from your nation made a very big wrong thing and they claimed a cow to be their god.” So Allah ﷻ was angry with them. When he came back to his nation, he was very angry so he threw these Tablets and something broke. He was very angry and people were asking for forgiveness. Allah ﷻ sent Jibril ‘alayhi s-salam to tell them what they must do. To accept their repentance, each one must be killed or kill himself. All of these people accepted to do this, and those who weren’t worshiping this cow were killing others. On that day, they killed 73,000 from these

people. With this, Allah ﷻ forgave them because they accepted this and asked for forgiveness, and all of this ended.

This was the same in their Shari’ah/law until the time of the Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. Because when they treated the Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam in Madinah, they took them in. He ﷺ asked them, “How do you like to be judged: by my law or by my brother Musa ‘alayhi s-salam’s law.” They said, “No, by Musa ‘alayhi s-salam’s law”, they know this law very well. They chose this because if they accept the Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam’s law/Shari’ah they won’t be killed, but by the Shari’ah of Sayyidina Musa they must be killed. And they were killed. This is the difference between the old Shari’ah and what we are lucky to have with our Prophet ﷺ: only saying “AstaghfiruLlah. We are asking forgiveness” and Allah ﷻ forgives us.

For this, we are saying that to people but people are not understanding the value of what we have. Many people are like fish in the sea. When they are in the water, they don’t understand the value of water. If they go out, they will be finished. And at that time, they will know and they will ask for water again but it’ll be too late.

The Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam was, until his last moments before leaving this world, only thinking about his ﷺ Ummah, giving advice and saying, “Don’t forget this. Don’t forget that.” And especially about praying, he said “Don’t forget to pray.” The only thing we can save ourselves with is the love of the Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. If you love the Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, Allah ﷻ loves you and gives you power and happiness, and helps you to do every good thing insha’Allah.

Allah ﷻ made every occasion to give human beings goodness and good things from His ﷻ Presence. Now we are also in a good occasion. We are in these ten days [of Dhu l-Hijjah], the most precious days of the year. The Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says that every night is as valuable as Laylatu l-Qadr. And the reward for everything starts from 700 times; not ten times, but 700 times. After this, we are reaching Eid, the feast which will be a real feast with the good gift of Allah ﷻ, the spiritual gift that will make us happy.

AlhamduliLlah we are together. We are all gathering here for the love of Allah ﷻ, for the love of the Prophet ﷺ. This is Ibadah/worship. And for asking knowledge also, the angels will put wings under your feet; the Prophet salla Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam said that. We are in this night insha’Allah may we get this Barakah.

Of course, many people intended to go to Hajj and were trying to go but they couldn’t. From their intention, Allah ﷻ will accept their Hajj insha’Allah. Allah ﷻ Yubarik lahum insha’Allah/May Allah ﷻ make it blessed for them insha’Allah. May Allah ﷻ make them blessed days for all of us insha’Allah. May Allah ﷻ keep us in strong Iman and keep you, your children and your relatives safe from bad days and bad things. May Allah ﷻ give us every good thing insha’Allah.
