Mankind Worships Either Allah ﷻ or His Ego

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum wa Raḥmatullāhi wa Barakātuh. A‘ūdhu Billāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. Wa ṣ-Salātu wa s-Salāmu ‘alá Rasūlinā Muḥammadin Sayyidi l-Awwalīna wa l-Akhirīn. Madad yā RasūlAllāh, Madad yā Sādāti Aṣḥābi Rasūlillāh, Madad yā Mashāyikhinā, Dastūr Mawlana Shaykh Abdullāh al-Fā’iz ad-Dāghistāni, Shaykh Muḥammad Nāẓim al- Ḥaqqānī. Madad. Ṭarīqatunā aṣ-Suḥbah wa l-Khayru fi l-Jam‘iyyah.

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm:

(Qur’ān 45:23). ‘Afara’ayta man it’takhadha ilahahu hawāh’, ‘Have you seen he who has taken as his god his [own] desire?’ Allah ‘Azza wa Jalla created people. And He ﷻ took a promise from us that He ﷻ is our Lord when He ﷻ created our souls. Therefore, when people came to this world, they forgot about it. It didn’t meet their enjoyment. Many people worship not Allah ‘Azza wa Jalla but things that their egos want. It is in human nature; Allah ‘Azza wa Jalla made it in a way that people must certainly worship something or someone. Believers worship Allah ﷻ. Unbelievers worship their egos and things that their egos like. The ego is like this.

Even though Sayyidina Musa ‘alayhi s-salam showed so many miracles to his people, at last, they asked for a god to worship. Whereas, Musa ‘alayhi s-salam was the reason and means to saving them from Pharaoh so that they don’t worship him. But soon after, they asked for a god to worship. A man called Samiri made a golden calf for them then. People liked it, as it was made from gold. They loved gold. They decided to worship it, and they worshiped it.

Mankind is like this. In spite of Allah ‘Azza wa Jalla giving them so many favors and showing that there is no god except Allah ﷻ, mankind still obey their egos. This is why they reject the truth and lean towards falsehood. Since the creation of people, shaytan has been trying to mislead them from the way and distance them from the truth. It is the same in the present time as well. People are never changing. They see the truth, but they give importance to useless things. They care about them and love them. Why is it so? Because they are following their egos. They are following their desires. “This seems easier for us.” Therefore, whatever the ego wants, they go after that.

Mankind will always be a toy for shaytan. Those who don’t follow the truth, Allah ﷻ makes them busy with such useless things. Whereas if they worship Allah ‘Azza wa Jalla and leave those idols, Allah ﷻ will give them goodness both here and hereafter. Otherwise, those who worship the idols, who worship their desires and egos, who worship the things they enjoy will always be in disappointment. They will never have any benefit at all. Just like the idols during the time of our Holy Prophet ﷺ, they are completely useless things, without any benefit to themselves as well. To worship them, to glorify them and to honor them has no benefit at all.

Mankind should worship Allah ‘Azza wa Jalla, because people will surely worship something. They will worship either Allah ‘Azza wa Jalla or things they enjoy. We were in India once and passed through some street. People were clinking and banging, carving the stones. What was that? They were making idols. Whoever wills goes there to obtain a statue that he likes, and takes it home to worship it. Something made with hands is useless even for itself.

Therefore, mankind should use their minds. Allah ﷻ has given us a mind and understanding. May Allah ﷻ protect us all. May Allah ﷻ protect us from the evil of our egos. May we be on the way of Allah ‘Azza wa Jalla. May we love Allah ﷻ and worship Allah ﷻ insha’Allah. May He ﷻ make us successful in that, because everything is in His ﷻ Hand. May Allah ﷻ not let us become servants of our egos and disparage ourselves.
