Ego and Human Nature

Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuh, Auzu Billahi Minashaytanir Rajeem. Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem, Wassalatu Wassalamu ala Rasulina Muhammadin Sayyidul Awwalin wal Akhirin, Madad Ya Rasulallah, Madad Ya Sadat As’habi RasuLillah, Madad Ya Mashayikhina, Dastur Mawlana Sheikh Abdullah Faiz Daghestani, Sheikh Nazim al-Haqqani. Madad. Tariqatunas sohba, wal khayru fil jamiyya.

It is said in the Qur’an ‘Azimu sh-Shan, the holy book of Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla, “Show mercy to people, to Muslims, and protect them from sin” - ‘

’, ‘Wa Qihimu As-Sayyi’āti Wa Man Taqī As-Sayyi’āti Yawma’idhin Faqad Raĥimtah’, ‘And protect them from the evil consequences [of their deeds]. And he whom You protect from evil consequences that Day - You will have given him mercy.’ (Qur’ān 40:09).

If Allah ﷻ protects us from sin, it means He treats us with mercy. Everyone can commit a sin. Some people are protected from it, and that is by the will of Allah ﷻ insha’Allah. Nevertheless, people should beware and be careful. They shouldn’t commit a sin. They shouldn’t commit a sin and shouldn’t make others commit it. Our Holy Prophet ﷺ says, when others are doing it, you should prevent it by hand if you can prevent it by hand. If you can’t prevent it by hand, then prevent it with a word. If you can’t do that, dislike it with your heart and don’t accept it, says Holy Prophet ﷺ. Those who are fine with it... To dislike from the heart is the weakest of Iman. When you are fine with sin, there is no Iman in your heart then.

People of the present times are free and say that it is very normal and that it is the nature of humans. That’s true, committing sins is like this, but it is not the nature but the ego that does it. Ego and nature are different. Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla created people clean by Fitrah/nature, on the basis of Islam. But by [obeying] the ego, they want all kinds of evil. They are not aware of this and cannot distinguish this. So they say that evil is in human nature. They go to a doctor who says that it is in their nature, and that they should do everything they have to. Everyone in prison has such a nature, and so they did all their crimes. Why are you keeping them imprisoned? It means something bad is done. If it was good, they wouldn’t be imprisoned. If it was in the nature of humans, it wouldn’t appear so. No matter how irreligious and faithless people are, they cannot accept some things. They want others to accept but cannot accept them themselves.

Human nature is on Fitrah, according to Islam and it is clean. All this evil is done by obeying the ego. And they are doing that by seeing and looking at each other. This is the condition of the world now. We should pay attention to it. Don’t be a tool for it. Some things are done that people assume them to be good and do them too. They encourage others as well. They say, “Allah ﷻ knows what I do, so let everyone else know”. Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla doesn’t say so. Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla says, “If you commit a sin, hide it”. When you hide it, Allah ﷻ may forgive it. But when you demonstrate your sin and encourage everyone to do the same, your sin increases then. May Allah ﷻ protect us.

People don’t know what is good and what is bad anymore. They know the bad as good and the good as bad. Therefore, they commit more sins and take on more burdens. They can only get rid of them by repenting, asking forgiveness and promising not to repeat it again. People should ask forgiveness. They claim that they have no burden. That is the main burden that breaks their spines. It is the burden of sins. If they repent and ask forgiveness, that burden will be lifted and they will relax. May Allah ﷻ protect us. May Allah ﷻ help us all.
