Strive to Have Patience

2 min read

Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuh, Auzu Billahi Minashaytanir Rajeem. Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem, Wassalatu Wassalamu ala Rasulina Muhammadin Sayyidul Awwalin wal Akhirin, Madad Ya Rasulallah, Madad Ya Sadat As’habi RasuLillah, Madad Ya Mashayikhina, Dastur Mawlana Sheikh Abdullah Faiz Daghestani, Sheikh Nazim al-Haqqani. Madad. Tariqatunas sohba, wal khayru fil jamiyya.

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ says:

“Knowledge is only by learning, and patience is only by exerting oneself to be patient”. Knowledge is attained by learning. It doesn’t come directly to anyone. A person is first a baby. And as a baby, he starts learning. The more he grows, the more he learns. Who wants more knowledge studies more then and becomes ‘Alim.

Patience is gentleness and good manners. It also comes slowly. Someone says, “I am a very angry person. How can I get rid of it?” Just like you attain knowledge, you learn this slowly too. You must control yourself. You should not get angry and destroy everything around you when something happens. You should start slowly by saying, “This happened but I must be a bit patient. I must control my ego.” And afterwards Allah ﷻ will let you reach that good character step by step. Anger brings nothing but harm. An angry person only gets angrier with time. No patience and no gentleness remains then. And people start running away from him, avoiding him or disliking him.

Grudge and anger are attributes of shaytan. Allah ‘Azza wa Jalla doesn’t like them. You should love and hate for the sake of Allah ﷻ. You should not hold a grudge against anyone. When the uncle of our Holy Prophet ﷺ Sayyidina Hamza became a Shaheed, Wahshi, the person who killed him, became a Sahabah afterwards. Despite being so upset for his uncle, our Holy Prophet ﷺ did not hold a grudge against this man. People of the present time begrudge at little things and don’t let it go. That grudge grows bigger and bigger, and that person harms himself and others.

Therefore, people should strive to have the attribute of patience. They say, , “A patient one is in a good state.” A person is loved when he is so. Otherwise, people don’t respect him and try to stay away from him. May Allah ﷻ protect us. May we train our egos insha’Allah.

Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.
