Serve for Allah’s ﷻ Pleasure

3 min read

Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuh, Auzu Billahi Minashaytanir Rajeem. Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem, Wassalatu Wassalamu ala Rasulina Muhammadin Sayyidul Awwalin wal Akhirin, Madad Ya Rasulallah, Madad Ya Sadat As’habi RasuLillah, Madad Ya Mashayikhina, Dastur Mawlana Sheikh Abdullah Faiz Daghestani, Sheikh Nazim al-Haqqani. Madad. Tariqatunas sohba, wal khayru fil jamiyya.

The biggest honor for people is to believe in Allah ﷻ and to be in service. Servanthood to Allah ﷻ is the biggest honor. There is nothing greater than this. Our Holy Prophet ﷺ said that it is an honor to serve Islam. Our ancestors served in the best way. They joined Islam with the intention of serving it, not to be served. Their humility is true humility, not fake. They served Muslims as much as they could and helped them. Wherever there were oppressed ones, they supported them. Even when they heard about needy people across the world, they used to send help to them. They were clever people. And as they knew what was right and what was wrong, they knew that servanthood is the most accepted thing. So they saw themselves as servants of the Ummah. Out of their humbleness, they never saw themselves higher. They made Shukr to Allah ﷻ that He ﷻ gave them this duty.

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ said that if you are not in service, Allah ﷻ will give this service to others. There are such Hadiths of our Holy Prophet ﷻ and the Qur’an also, which say that if you don’t do your service, Allah ﷻ will send another nation after you who will love Allah ﷻ, who will be loved by Allah ﷻ and who will serve on the way of Allah ﷻ. With these good tidings, they served without asking anything, not for the enjoyment of this world but for the pleasure of Allah ﷻ. If they had asked for the enjoyment of this world, it would be a lot. But wherever they went, they spread their service to poor people, Muslims and everyone.

People of the present time think about the benefit and profit they will get before doing something. They say, “I did this service. What will its reward be?” The reward for it will be given by Allah ﷻ. You will have Thawab in Ākhirah. Is there anything better than this? No, there is not. They don’t think about it. First of all, they think “I did this service. There should be some benefit in it for me to be pleased”. If they don’t get anything, they think it is for nothing. Whereas, it is wrong. They don’t get benefit and deprive themselves of Thawab. Whatever we do, we have to do it for the pleasure of Allah ﷻ like our ancestors did. For the pleasure of Allah ﷻ, we have to think about Thawab in Ākhirah, not about the worldly benefit. When you think so, Allah ‘Azza wa Jalla may give you. And if He doesn’t give you, you won’t be in loss. Do not ever think otherwise.

People of the present time are put in such a mold that you get surprised at the difference between 20-30 years ago and now. As each day passes, more and more people care only about material things and money, and ask for return for every action. We are living in a strange time. Therefore, we have to think like the good old people and our ancestors. Our deeds will certainly be beneficial then. If your intention is pure and good, Allah ﷻ will reward you a thousandfold. He will not leave you in need. You will get its benefit both here and hereafter. May Allah ﷻ make us from those who serve for the pleasure of Allah ﷻ insha’Allah.

Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.
